Introduction: Since its inception in 2002, Daffodil International University
(DIU) has remained focused on creating a generation of workforce equipped
with knowledge and skills required by the 21st century multinationals,
corporates, and global job-market. The campus of DIU is situated at Daffodil
Smart City (DSC), Ashulia, near Uttara, Dhaka in about seventy acres of calm,
serene, lush-green open environment free from the humdrum of the city.
PhD programs at DIU: DIU has introduced PhD programs in collaboration
with many foreign universities like USIM, CNU, KIIT, UniMAP, OUM, TIU and
UM. Currently, 85 faculty members of DIU are currently pursuing their Ph. D.
in different universities at home and abroad.
Faculty Members: With 501 full time faculty both foreign and local, a total of
889 faculty members and researchers are in charge of imparting world
standard education to students at DIU.
International Students: Currently a total of 252 students from different countries are
studying at DIU. A total of 278 foreign students graduated during last two years.
Scholarship and Waiver: Currently more than 16297 DIU students are enjoying
scholarships in each semester. The total of 16310 enjoyed waver and scholarship in
2021 out of which 132 were awarded waivers under Freedom Fighter Quota.
One Student One Laptop is a flagship project of DIU. More than 42000 laptops have
been distributed among students to create an IT-experienced future generation.
CSR and ASR: DIU contributes significantly to Corporate Social Responsibilities
(CSR) and Academic Social Responsibilities (ASR) regularly to many individuals,
communities, and organizations all over the country. Daffodil Institute of Social
Sciences (DISS) is the CSR based initiative of DIU.
Cheer with the Champions: DIU achieved gold medals in Cycling, Badminton
(Singles), Badminton (Double), Table Tennis Singles in Bangabandhu Inter University
Sports Champs 2019; EWU winter smash 2020, Badminton Girls single Champion,
Boys double Runner Up, mixed double Runner Up; Boy’s single Runner Up; EWU
winter smash 2019 Badminton Champion both in singles and doubles (boys); Indo
Bangla International Inter University T20 cricket tournament 2019 Champion. DIU
won fair play trophy in the Bangabandhu Inter University Sports Champ 2019; became
champion in the 9th UIU National Debate Championship, Runner Up in National
Energy Hackathon-2017.Among some other significant international awards are
Merit Award from WITSA (2021).
Entrepreneurs Network: Daffodil International University has created more than
4000 entrepreneurs worldwide as a direct consequence of the groundbreaking
achievements of the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Innovation Lab,
Are you the next Startup, Entrepreneurship Development Fund, Co-working space,
Business Incubator, Entrepreneurs’ Club, Venture Capital Ltd., Startup Market,
Startup Bangladesh, Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEA), World Union of Small
and Medium Enterprises, Enterprise Competitiveness Institute (ECI), Makers’ Lab,
Startup Restaurant & Café, Startup Grind, Young Women Entrepreneurs' Forum, etc.
Division of Research: The Division of Research of DIU started its journey in July 2017.
The goal of the research endeavors of Division of Research is to build a research
culture at the department level and the university as a whole. The faculty of DIU have
published 389 Scopus indexed research articles in 2020 and 390 in 2021.
Alumni: DIU has a strong network with its alumni. They are placed in prominent
positions at home and aboard. DIU alumni are now in BCS Cadre, Army Peace
Mission, and different industries.
Achievements in brief:
 DIU Chairman Dr. Md. Sabur Khan has been elected the First Vice President of
AUAP, a prestigious international Association of the Universities of Asia Pacific.
He will take over the charge of the President of AUAP at end of 2022.
 Dr. Md. Sabur Khan received an Honorary Doctorate degree from Caucasus
University, Georgia for contribution in Education, Entrepreneurship and
Internationalization.
 DIU ranks the third among all the universities in Bangladesh in terms of the
number of research articles published in Scopus in 2020
DIU has been positioned first among all the private universities and fourth among
all the Bangladeshi universities based on the number of Scopus indexed
publications in 2019.
DIU Student Hemanta Sadik’s film ‘A Letter to God’ won ‘Best Drama’ & ‘Jury Award’
at Hollywood and Norway.
 First ever private university in Bangladesh to confer D.Litt. degree upon Dr.
Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT University and KISS, India.
Ranked No. 1 among all Bangladeshi universities for its green campus by ‘UI Green
Metric World University Ranking 2021’.
 DIU created a world record by contributing more than 3 Lac words to Google
Translation Service under Google Developers Group Bangla (GDG Bangla).
 DIU maintains 500+ MoUs and MoAs with universities, corporates and
organizations at home and abroad.
