Q. Elaborate how these quotations are helpful for people suffering from any psychological
illness and how a therapist may use these during his counseling.

Psychology in Islam is used in everyday practices but under different guises, such as
spiritualism. Islam values the importance of good mental health and emotional wellbeing. The
Qur’an can be used as a guide to those suffering from emotional distress. But as a professional
one should always keep in mind that religious point of views in therapy does not work on
everyone, it depends on how the client wants to be treated. Following are some helpful ways for
people suffering from any psychological illness and how a therapist may use these during his
counseling.

If a client feels guilty about their actions, they might find some comfort knowing that they will
not punished while they are seeking forgiveness for their actions. It will be comforting to know
that Allah is merciful and forgiving. Believing that their struggles and stress will reduce with
time and things will actually get better if they keep on working on their progress as a human
being.
It also helps client to recognize no human being goes through things that they cannot handle. We
are tested to our limits only. We only bear the burden that we can carry, it does require struggle
but we are able to get through it eventually. This quotation highlights the importance of patience.
Therapy and healing process is based on patience and it requires a huge amount of understanding
from the client and therapist too. It could help in client believe that patience is important to
actually heal and that Allah is with them throughout the process. The acceptance that their good
deeds will never go to waste and they are always counted. The smallest of good deed that they
did could hold a lot of importance. They will believe that their lord is with them and would never
turn his back away from them.

Q. Write a story about how Prophet Muhammad SAW created hope on any occasion.

At the end of sixth century AD humanity had lost all the guidance and hope that
came from its Creator and Sustainer as how to live, act and behave on earth. There
were no human rights anywhere in the world. Under the domination of both the
superpowers of the time, only the ruling class was enjoying all rights and
privileges. The common man has no rights worth its name and was treated as
serfdom.

He (S) build a society in which justice was free, education was obligatory and free
for all. It was free of corruption and favoritism. Rate of crime was extremely low
to the extent that often jails were found empty. Situation of law and order was so
perfect that an old lady could travel from Sana’a to Hazarmaut, a distance of about
1,000 miles with gold in her hands and she had no fear except that of Allah. Adi
bin Hatim, confirmed it on his own observation.

The forgoing proves beyond any shadow of doubt the life pattern that Prophet
Mohammad (S) demonstrated to the world and the system of life and he was sent as
a hope for the mankind to mankind to get justice, peace and security on earth. The
more its adoption is delayed, the more it is drifting away from its cherished goal to
attain perfection in transforming the abode of man into the cradle of peace and free
of exploitation; where both the affluent and the poor will feel contented in their
respective field and where the opportunity of progress will be available to all and
sundry without any prejudice as a right of all human beings. Humanity can attain
this goal only when it would accept the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (peace be
upon him) as the only hope of its survival. To be precise, his lifetime here on the
earth was a hope.
