British people

Tapescript:

Even though both The United States and British are English-speaking countries, the attitudes
of people there are different in several ways.

Initially, the most obvious thing that distinguishes between them is their perspective about
individualism. Americans tend to prioritize individual liberty, while British tend to value the
role of the state to ensure no one in society is in need. In a survey, 58% of Americans believe
allowing everyone to pursue their life’s goals without interference from the state is more
important.

Secondly, Americans tend to be both far more religious and far more vocal about religion
than British. Globally, there is a strong relationship between a country’s wealth and its level
of religiosity. Nations with higher levels of GDP tend to have lower percentages saying
religion is very important in their lives. However, the US is a clear outlier to this pattern - a
wealthy nation that is also relatively religious.

And in an offensive speech, American tends to be more tolerant compare to British. 77% of
American believe citizens should be allowed to make statements that are offensive to
people’s religious beliefs.

Besides, it is clear to see that the Americans are easier to make friends, meanwhile the British
tend to be slower to get to know someone new and slower to form new friendships. Secondly,
American seem to be more straightforward compare to British peoples. In a conversation, the
British tend to imply some hidden meaning under their words. Americans are the best joiners
in the world; however it is often difficult, especially among men, to develop deep friendships.
Americans are accustomed to doing business or interacting with people they don’t know well.
Consequently, Americans are not shy about approaching their prospective counterparts in
order to obtain or seek information.[1]
