A side hustle is a company that a person runs in addition to his day job in the evenings and on
the weekends to supplement his income. The term "side hustle" is far older than most people
think, having been first used in 1950. The phrase gained notoriety during and after the previous
recession, when conventional jobs vanished and resourceful people needed to make ends meet.
Today, a record number of people work from home, run side businesses, and earn extra money in
their spare time due to the rising cost of food, debt—especially student debt—and the
precariousness of the regular day job. Currently, the term "side hustle" is most commonly
pronounced as an open compound word, Yet, other dictionaries include it with a hyphen, as in
side-hustle. The word is a combination of side, which refers to something that is not the main
focus, and hustle, which means to move quickly and vigorously toward something. The words
"side hustle" and "side hustled" are synonyms for "side hustle," which is also used as a noun and
a verb. G. (2022, August 3).

A side business can give you more financial freedom to pay off debt, make retirement plans, and
explore alternative avenues for investing and growing your money, but it can also let you explore
jobs in various areas and even inspire a new passion. Sometimes a side business can develop into
a successful primary business. (Kenkare, 2022)

Your future initiatives may benefit from the experience and skills you gain by starting a new side
hustle business. It takes a lot of effort and commitment to start a business, but the knowledge
you acquire can be used in other endeavors in the future. Such abilities can include those in
marketing, sales, and financial management. A successful side business can also boost your
resume's credibility and raise your value on the job market. A network of contacts and future can

Professionals generate chances outside of their "primary" job for a variety of reasons, including
bringing in extra money or making use of skills that go beyond the requirements of their
respective industry. I gravitate toward opportunities that give me the freedom to be creative and
to foster community because I work in the financial services industry and have a background in
law. Yet, you don't have to pursue your side business solely for personal satisfaction. In reality, it
can aid in your professional development and ultimately benefit your business by giving you the
tools you need to grow in your field. Kenkare, P. (2022b, August 21).

In addition to a full-time work, a side hustle is a means to make extra money. It could be simpler
to pay bills, put money away, or help with other obligations if you have additional cash. Your side
business might develop into a flourishing enterprise with the additional revenue.

Background

have been undertaken on the topic area summarizing their conclusive evidence and
relevance to the study area. This section indicates that some research has been carried out

Finding a side hustle that is perceived to be significant (i.e., directly influential to the
lives or work of others) should also increase enrichment from the work. As an
example, in selling goods online, side hustlers are unlikely to deeply connect with the
significance of the task, whereas a babysitting side hustle via the Urbansitter app will
likely increase perceptions that the side hustle is significant. Finally, finding a side
hustle that involves a variety of skills should improve the experience. The skills can
be those the side hustler already possesses, or even more beneficial, may be skills the
side hustler wants to further develop. For example, consider the variety and breadth
of skills one may use or develop by performing a variety of jobs on TaskRabbit
compared to the lone skill of driving for a shared ride service. In short, finding a side
hustle that offers autonomy, discrete tasks, feedback, significance, and skill variety
will lead to more enriching experiences and help facilitate empowerment and

You’ve probably heard of a side hustle before. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a

complete side-business, or even make that much money. A side hustle is all about
your personal growth, development, and entrepreneurial creativity. Think about
what you would supplement your current work with if you had the chance. Maybe
you want to start a podcast related to your business, write a personal blog, or sell
crafts on Etsy. Whatever your side hustle may be, it’s all about finding your passion
and following it through — Without the major commitment of leaving your current
work or investing all of your time into something you’re not certain of.

According to a Bankrate study, about 37% of adults in the U.S. have a side hustle.
And they can pay pretty well, at an average of nearly $700 a month! No wonder
another study shows two-thirds of Americans would consider diving into the side
hustle business in addition to their current jobs.(Stahl, 2018)

Your side hustle can help you make money online and earn some extra cash each month.
But it can also help you develop new skills, build your personal brand or portfolio, and
achieve more freedom. So, have fun with it! Take a risk by starting a business or pursue a
new hobby you’ve always been curious about. A side hustle is your best opportunity to live
life on your own terms. And with some more money in your pocket, there’s nothing stopping

Significance of the Study

1. Teenagers– Side hustle are a great way for teens to learn important skills. This side hustle
can teach your teen the value of hardwork, how to balance multiple responsibilities, how
to be a responsible and reliable worker, while making money and having fun. They’ll
learn valuable skills that they can carry into adulthood.
2. Mother– earning extra income is the obvious first reason why a side hustle is a great idea.
You can bring in extra cash to pay your bills, take a vacation, send your kids to camp or
start to save for retirement..
3. Student–-Opportunities to learn new business skills, or improve your current ones.
Earning money doing something you enjoy. Apply the skills that you learn to your
degree. Choosing how you structure your work hours.
4. Someone who started a business— Starting a business as a side hustle can prove a way
to turn your passion into a profitable venture, while still maintaining financial stability.
This can lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life, as you are able to pursue both your
passion and financial goals.

Knowing how to get stuff seen by the people most likely to purchase it is vital. Advertising
experts and marketing gurus have no problem getting their products in front of viewers on a
large scale. So think about how they get their items to market and how they will appear to
viewers.

Sellers should first identify their target audience. For example, what age group or gender
will be most likely to want the product? Once this is nailed down, sellers will better
understand how to market the product and which sites would probably work best for that
specific item.

People should ensure the items are in good condition with a detailed description. The more
information the seller can provide, the better the articles will do. Consumers appreciate the
extra initiative and timely responses to their inquiries. Taking good photos is also crucial.
Sellers might be surprised what some great lighting and a good backdrop can do for retail.

Sellers must build trust with transactions. They can start small and work up to higher-priced
items, establishing a foundation of reliability on whatever site is chosen. Buyers will be
much more likely to purchase expensive items with good reviews from others.

Most e-commerce sites that stuff is sold through send paid postage to ship items to them or
the buyer with instructions on how to do so. Poshmark is like eBay, where customers get to
bid on stuff they want to buy, and sellers can counteroffer. That makes it enjoyable to sell
things through them.
