ABSTRACT

Men and women workers are twin side of the coins both are
very important to carry the various operations in the
corporate sector. Then, why are women thought to be
inferiors?
Women in the workforce earning wages or a salary are part
of a modern phenomenon, one that developed at the same
time as the growth of paid employment for men, but women
have been challenged by inequality in the workforce.
Majority of workplaces were not safe for the women to
perform their work smoothly. Human resource management
should be done properly in the organization. ‘Workplaces
are not safe for women’ here we can see the discrimination
among male and female employees in pay scale, job
security, higher designations and so on. But at present every
organization has to play a great role in the development of
women workforce in the organization. Giving equal
opportunity to women is part of business ethics. Women
workers will be given all rights that will safeguards the
interest of them in the workplace.
Women' s participation in the work space is needed,
however, the workplace's ability to provide a sense of
security for women is still not optimal, especially when they
are harassed everyday.
Women are sexually assaulted at an alarming rate, and the
workplace is a frequent arena for assault. However, in recent
decades, attention has been given to improving responses to
sexual assault. Sexual assault is a frequent cause of injury
and death for women. One in five Indian women admit they
have experienced a completed rape during their lifetime.
These estimates are conservative because sexual assault and
sexual violence are both under reported and under
prosecuted. Fear of job loss and discrimination are frequent
reasons women do not report sexual assault in the
workplace. Women are entering the workplace in greater
numbers due in part to more single parent families and the
depressed economy. Also, women are entering work
environments that have traditionally been the domain of
male workers: corporate headquarters, semi trucks, health
care providers' offices, rural farms, and rural factories.
Employers must have a plan to protect female employees
and effectively address any incidents of sexual assault or
violence. Occupational health nurses and nurse practitioners
can assist both employees and employers to prevent sexual
assault and resolve the aftermath of sexual assault.
However, to accomplish this goal, occupational health
nurses and nurse practitioners must be trained in sexual
assault and violence response as well as preventive
interventions.
