The freedom to seek out, receive, and communicate ideas across all frontiers and media is a fundamental human right. It includes the freedom to hold opinions without interference. Without censorship of free speech, it permits the free interchange of thoughts, viewpoints, and information, allowing people to establish their notions on matters of public concer. Freedom of speech promotes public discourse and an unbiased and autonomous press. Additionally, freedom of speech enables citizens of our nation to freely express themselves and convey their ideas, views, and opinions in an environment in which people and the media are free to express their convictions and make comments about any political activities, as well as to voice their disapproval of anything they deem to be inappropriate However, there are hindrances to free speech that expunge any statements made in the media, The curtailing of public discourse, expression, or other information is known as censorship. It is accomplished because the content is deemed undesirable, damaging, sensitive, or "inconvenient." Governments, corporate institutions, and other regulating bodies can censor speech. Social media censorship can hinder people's ability to express themselves freely by limiting their access to public forums. The government may also monitor citizens’ online speech and activities as part of internet censorship. Because of the surveillance, a huge number of people are suppressed from freely exercising their right to speak up for certain issues,express their views and opinions, and voice out against harmful, unlawful, or inappropriate social practices because speech is restricted. Social media platforms in the Philippines are used for multitudes of activities, such as keeping up with current affairs, disseminating news and information, interacting with relatives and close friends, and networking. And on the Intemet, every Filipino has the right to express their opinions. ‘The right to assemble in peace and the freedom of unrestrained expression are essential liberties that should be protected to the same extent as public safety and security. Word Count: 874 Information is transferred at rates and volumes beyond what the human body can process. This is caused by the rise of the Internet and social media platforms. With the change in the state of the media through the Internet and social media, there is also a change in censorship. An example of an alteration in censorship is the use of automated bots. Automated bots that pose as human accounts on social media are frequently used to promote material, criticize othe s, or generate trending topics to sway users. Such automated bots bombard the internet environment in the Philippines with false headlines and attack specific journalists. This new kind of dispersed censorship drowns out independent news rather than actively restricting it by using bots to flood social media networks with misleading information. Additionally, it makes it more challenging for regular Filipinos to distinguish truth from fabrication, In many nations, internet censorship or regulation of use is prevalent. It can be required by the state, your place of employment, or an intemet service provider. Depending on the organization that initiated the censorship, different topics or things may be blocked. For instance, a business might block social media websites from its network to verify that staff members aren't using them. A nation may restrict certain forms of speech for political reasons or to combat fake news. One drawback of internet filtering is that it restricts both freedom of expression and access to information. Governments in power benefit from intemet censorship by censoring websites that threaten their authority. Through internet censorship, those with influence and resources can limit what regular people can view and say. Additionally, censorship can also affect one’s creativity on the intemet, Censorship has an impact on artistic expression. It restricts how a creator can communicate their feelings and concepts. Boundaries shouldn't exist for creative expression because doing so reduces its capacity for evoking strong emotions. In addition, corporations and aspiring business owners are the main demographics affected by internet blocking. Limiting access to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter prevents small and ‘medium-sized businesses and organizations from inexpensively reaching consumers. In an environment as vast and open as the Internet, the dissemination of information should be unbiased and transparent. Everyone has the freedom to express their thoughts, ideas, and information in any format. It forbids censorship by the government and other members of society. It can only be limited for earnest reasons. Without the right to free speech, people would Word Count: 874 be unable to express their uniqueness and autonomy, criticize the government, compare their theories to those of others, or respond to bad expressions with a different point of view. Everyone on the platform may express themselves thanks to it. Generally, this is an excellent strategy to ‘ensure everyone has access to freedom of expression and information. Even more, the world needs to be seen through an unbiased, liberated, and transparent lens in order to see the truth unfold. Thus, it can be said that the practice of censorship in social media platforms hinders freedom of speech, creativity, and opportunities from being liberated and thriving, It should be noted that something as expansive as social media platforms have the capacity to bring significant change towards communities, countries, or even the whole world.
