March 5, 2023 at Noon

After Homily

After the homily, RCIA Team Member presents the candidates,

from the cantor stand, using the following.

Presentation of the Candidates

RCIA Team Member - Jane

Fr. Bradley, since Easter is drawing near, I am pleased to
present to you the candidates, who are preparing to be
received into the full communion of the Catholic Church.
They have found strength in God's grace and support in our
community's prayers and example.

Now they ask that after this Lenten season, they be admitted
to confirmation and the eucharist.

Fr. Bradley: Those who desire to participate fully in the

sacramental life of the Church, come forward,
together with your sponsors as your name is
called. Please stand facing the altar, with your
sponsor standing behind you.

One by one, the candidates are called by name. Each

candidate, accompanied by a sponsor, comes forward
when their name is called and stands facing the altar,
sponsor stands behind them before the celebrant.

Affirmation by the Sponsors (and the Assembly)

Presider: The Christian life and the demands that flow from
sacraments cannot be taken lightly. Therefore,
before granting these candidates their request to
share fully in the Church’s sacraments, it is
important that the Church hear the testimony of
their sponsors about their readiness.

Presider addresses the sponsors:

Presider: Have they faithfully listened to the apostles’
instruction proclaimed by the Church?
Sponsors: They have.

Presider: Have they come to a deeper appreciation of their

baptism, in which they were joined to Christ and
his Church?
Sponsors: They have.

Presider: Have they reflected sufficiently on the tradition of

the Church, which is their heritage, and joined
their brothers and sisters in prayer?
Sponsors: They have.

Presider: Have they advanced in a life of love and service of

others?
Sponsors: They have.

Prayer over the Candidates

After the intercessions, the presider, with hands out-

stretched over the candidates, says the following prayer.
Deacon will hold binder for presider.

Presider:

Lord God,
whose love brings us to life
and whose mercy gives us new birth,
look favorably upon these candidates,
and conform their lives
to the pattern of Christ’s suffering.
May he become their wealth and wisdom,
and may they know in their lives
the power flowing from his resurrection,
who is Lord for ever and ever.
All: Amen

Presider: I now invite the sponsors to go back to their seats.

Dismissal (addressing the candidates)

Presider: Go now in the peace of Christ

to be nourished by the Scriptures
and to enter into our Lenten traditions.

the Rite.

Presider: We will continue with Creed (announce second

collection after the Creed)

Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
all bow for these words:
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the
Virgin Mary, and became man.
rise and continue
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of
Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored
and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to
the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
