Introducción (Que hace un ingeniero biomédico)

Biomedical engineering is the area that applies engineering principles to the life sciences. It helps
to solve problems related to biology and medical areas. It involves knowledge from diverse areas
such as: mechanics, electronics, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, physics,
biotechnology, among others.

Biomedical engineers develop devices and procedures that solve medical and health problems by
combining their knowledge of biology and medicine with engineering principles and practices.
Many do research alongside medical scientists to develop and evaluate systems and products such
as artificial organs, prosthetics, instrumentation, medical information systems and health
management, as well as design devices used in various medical procedures.

Labor market

What can a biomedical engineer work in?

The job field of a biomedical engineer is very broad, but it is mainly concentrated in:

- Public and private organizations that provide health services.

- Medical equipment manufacturing companies.

- In executive and managerial positions in organizations in the biomedical sector.

- As an entrepreneur of a company dedicated to the development and commercialization of

biomedical products.

- Public and private organizations dedicated to the research and development of biomedical
products.
