Ejercicio 5. Bioenergética del ATP

The importance of ATP for the proper functioning of vital processes in

living organisms is indisputable, to the point that its study is of
utmost importance to understand the processes that occur within
these living beings, to verify their execution, and the versatility of
their uses in relation to their function.

ATP is synthesized within organisms and, in turn, used for various

metabolic and cellular communication functions. Through the latter,
the cell executes its capacity for irritability through signal
transduction, which allows it to recognize stimuli and react to them.
This leads to an alteration of the cell's genetic pattern and
physiological actions.

Signal transduction in the cell is carried out in various ways, one of

the most common being the phosphorylation of proteins and/or lipids
in the cell membrane. It depends on the external stimulus for the
message to reach the secondary messenger molecules, and thus to
cAMP, one of the most frequent secondary messengers, directing the
signal through the cytoplasm to the cell nucleus, through the PKA
protein that is transcribed by the phosphorylation of the CREB factor.

The participation of ATP in message transmission is also visible in

human nervous processes. ATP in the synapse of axons and neuroglia
activates purinergic receptors, such as P2, present in important
neurotransmitter processes. Without it, basic processes such as
hearing, pulmonary respiration, and apoptosis would not occur.

We cannot imagine the execution of essential vital functions without

the energy activation provided by ATP to the cells that make up
different living beings.
