A REFLECTION OF THE KIND OF LIFE AND THE LESSON THAT KAREN BORDADOR GOT FROM BEING IN
PRISON FOR 4 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS FOR A CRIME SHE DIDN'T COMMIT.

5 birthdays, 5 christmases and new year, 4 years and 10 months and exactly 1,767 days of Karen
Bordador's life she had spent behind the bars for a crime she didn't commit. Rotten, dark, and kinda hell
like are what she had describe of what it feels like inside the jail. Some of the prisoners like her didn't
treat her well as well as the officers that is in charge in the jail thinking she's an intimidating person. All
eyes were on here during the first few months of her stay there. But despite of all of her struggles and
the challenges she had faced while in jail , it didn't stop her to be able to help people especially those
prisoners that she is with. She had realized that there are some people just like her that are also not
guilty of crimes they didn't commit and yet they still there in that place, suffering from the injustice that
sadly, what considered as a normal thing in our country's legal system. Upon her released, Karen had
promised to her cellmates that she will not forget them and will try her best to help them for she had
known what's happening inside the prison and how they are being oppressed of having their basic needs
deprived from them. A clean water for them to drink, a well functioned comfort room for them to use,
and a room enough for almost 90 people to fit. To say that the time and the kind of life she had suffered
from inside the prison is bad was an understatement, but on the other hand, this served as an eye
opener for her and learned a lot of life lesson to be grateful, and to appreciate life more.
