Extended Abstract:
The early detection of breast cancer is crucial in improving survival rates and reducing mortality. Breast Cancer (BC) is the
most prevalent malignant cancer among women; it has a relatively high prevalence, with about 2 million new cases
identified in 2018. In recent years, machine learning techniques have been increasingly employed for breast cancer
detection, with feature selection being a key step in achieving high accuracy. Since they help automate the decision-making
process, provide higher accuracy, respond immediately in emergency cases, and help minimize the efforts provided by
doctors, especially when there is a shortage of medical staff, ML techniques are implemented in decision support systems
that are advantageous in the increase of survival rate. In this paper, we propose a novel ensemble scheme for breast cancer
detection that uses feature selection method correlation-based feature selection (CFS). The proposed ensemble scheme is
evaluated on the Wisconsin Diagnostic Breast Cancer (WDBC) dataset and effective preprocessing steps are implemented
on dataset. Data number are 568 and the amount is not sufficient to train a model for that data augmentation process is
used. After that feature selection is performed and best features are inputted to machine learning models. Furthermore,
models are ensembled to get more accurate result than individual model prediction. Our experimental results demonstrate
that the proposed ensemble scheme outperforms other methods in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and area
under the curve (AUC) metrics. This research is ongoing and authors are still trying to utilize other feature selection
process to evaluate the best feature set for ensemble classifier. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed
ensemble scheme in breast cancer detection and highlight the potential for its application in clinical settings.
In order to address the challenge of recognizing early-stage breast cancer, this research [1] proposed a medical IoT-based
diagnostic system that competently distinguishes between malignant and benign individuals in an IoT environment.
Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) were employed as baseline classifiers for comparison,
and the artificial neural network (ANN) and convolutional neural network (CNN) with hyperparameter optimization were
used to classify malignant from benign tumors. The authors suggested utilizing an ensemble of classifiers to automatically
detect BC diagnosis and prognosis. We begin by reviewing various machine learning (ML) algorithms and ML algorithm
ensembles. A summary of ML algorithms, including ANN and an ensemble of several classifiers, was also provided for
automatic BC diagnosis and prognosis detection.
