ABSTRACT

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LONG WORK AND DURATION OF DAILY


EXPOSURE TO THE SUNLIGHT ON FARMER PTERIGIUM DEGREES IN
CIPAKU VILLAGE, BANDUNG DISTRICT IN 2022

Background: The risk factors for peterigium are very multifactorial, including exposure to
ultraviolet (UV) rays, exposure to dust or the presence of causes of irritation, inflammation,
and dryness of the eye. Seeing that the main livelihood of the residents in Cipaku village is
farming, and the farmer's work is a job that is directly exposed to sunlight, therefore the
researcher wants to find out whether the farmers in Cipaku village are mostly exposed to
peterigium which is in accordance with Erika Sandra Nor Hanifah's research, et al. there is a
correlation between the effect of UV sunlight and the incidence of peterigium.

Methods: The study used was a cross-sectional study with simple random sampling to
determine the relationship between risk factors and their impact at one time. The things
studied were farmers from Cipaku Village, Bandung Regency 2022.

Results: The data of this study obtained the results of a questionnaire distributed to 84
people,which is supported by the results of observations and interviews with respondents.
Target of this research is a farmer in Cipaku Village, Bandung Regency.

Conclusion: From the research results of 84 respondents it can be concluded that there is a
relationship between the length of work, and the length of daily sun exposure with degree II
peterigium on farmers in Cipaku village, Bandung district in 2022.
