LAND SURVEYORS MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT WITH WYOMING’S CHILDREN

Youth organizations and schools throughout Wyoming now have access to fun and informative STEM focused programs
presented by Wyoming’s Professional Land Surveyors. These personalized presentations are available on a year-round
basis through a partnership between the Wyoming Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors and
the Professional Land Surveyors of Wyoming. This effort kicks off with Governor Mead signing a Proclamation on March
14 2016. The proclamation designates March 21-25, 2016 as Wyoming Land Surveyor’s Week. A new program will be
launched which engages professional land surveyors with youth organizations to present exciting opportunities in the
career. Younger age groups can expect a highlight on the mysteries and fun of working outdoors with maps, math, and
exploring high tech tools. High school students will get a deeper look at what the career field offers for their future and
what educational paths are needed to pursue for success in this field.

The girl scouts were the first organization to show interest in the presentations and have meetings scheduled with
professional land surveyors in March. Boy Scout troops have also started to sign up for meetings in March and April.

For organization to take advantage of these free hands-on presentations they can contact Troy Niesen at (307) 777-6156
or troy.niesen@wyo.gov. The Board will collect some basic information then coordinate with Professional Land
Surveyors throughout the State.

Media are invited to attend events. To coordinate a media visit, contact the Wyoming Board office at (307) 777-6155.

Professional Land Surveyors have a positive impact on Wyoming and the nation’s economy. Their efforts to protect
public property by using professional knowledge and proven skills provide critical support to a variety in industries
including: design services, energy, heavy construction, infrastructure and residential building, just to name a few.

The Wyoming Licensing Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors safeguards life, health and
property of the public by assuring that those who practice the professions of engineering and land surveying are licensed
and attain and maintain competence in those professions. http://engineersandsurveyors.wyo.gov/
