Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the new school year. We have had a great start for our new Year 7s this week and they
are off to Hanging Rock tomorrow for a day of fun and getting to know new friends and teachers.

Although the year has started well we do have two unfilled positions at the moment : English and IT.
If that has impacted your child please be reassured that we are trying to rectify this as quickly as
possible. Meantime all classes are being supported with curriculum and instruction by other
teachers and we are maintaining a consistent person in front of classes. With the retirement of Mr
Jennings last year we have also had to make some adjustments to our curriculum offerings,
especially in our Yr 9 elective program. We apologise to students who may find themselves in an
elective that was not of their choosing but we will ensure that the content is engaging and
meaningful.

This term is an incredibly busy one with events nearly every week. Please note the following key
dates for the first three weeks

 7th February: Swimming carnival. Yr 7 – 9 to attend

 9th February: Year 7 welcome BBQ for all parents and students (5.30 – 7pm)
 15th February: School Photos

Our new student leadership team ably headed by Yasin and Angela are keen to start working with
representatives from each class. Please encourage your child to think about taking up offerings such
as student leadership and other opportunities that present themselves throughout the year. The
following lunch time clubs will start in the next week: Junior debating, Dungeons and Dragons,
playstation competition, sport and lunchtime music.

Our Year 9 Rangers class have begun undertaking their school leadership role mentoring Year 7s and
will accompany them to Hanging Rock to run some fun activities.

I look forward to greeting our new Year 7 parents next week and look forward to organising some
extra events for our Yr 8 and 9 parents later in the term.
