OBSERVING CANDIDATE A – Name: Sophie

What does the teacher do to establish rapport with the learners? Give examples.
T starts off by asking the learners how their day is going and what they did.
T establishes rapport with the learners by a Lead in: T gives students an example of a life quote on pp slide and asks students if they know of
any life quotes.

Is the language used by the teacher appropriately graded and paced? Give examples.
The language of the t was clear and concise and easy to follow. Instructions were clear and Ss found it easy to follow.

Are instructions to tasks and activities clear? Do learners seem to know what to do? Give
examples.
Read quotes a- f and answer the questions slide: Maybe she could have given each learner the chance to read out the sentences and then
they would do the set task.
I like it when t asked the Ss if they know the answer to a question that a student asked. She involved the Ss to try and provide feedback first
before giving the answer straight away.
During the audio task maybe it would have been better to stop at each audio and choose the answer first then move on to the next audio.
T had a moment where she lost her train of thought, but she was able to get on top of it and organize the break out rooms well.

T provided feedback after the learner’s answers from the task before moving on to the next task.
During the audio task, once learners have given their answers, T gives feedback.

OBSERVING CANDIDATE B – Name: Komal

What does the teacher do to establish rapport with the learners? Give examples.
T displays two sentences on the screen where Ss provide their opinion on whether or not they agree or disagree on. T engages in a friendly
manner to build rapport with Ss.

Is the language used by the teacher appropriately graded and paced? Give examples.
The language used by the t is appropriately graded and spaced. The language used by the t is clear and concise and easy to understand.
T gave clear instructions to the Ss. T gave a lot of time for Ss to share their ideas. Asked a lot of “What do you think questions?” to Ss.

Are instructions to tasks and activities clear? Do learners seem to know what to do? Give
examples.
Yes. Instructions for tasks are clear and easy to understand. When someone didn’t understand t was able to further explain what they need to do
in the task.

Yes. After slide 1, t gave her feedback by giving her answer, more like her opinion on the question asked.
OBSERVING CANDIDATE C – Name: Theresa

What does the teacher do to establish rapport with the learners? Give examples.
T firstly shows Ss some images on slide to get the students involved. T immediately gives Yan to lead the class which is a great idea because
students are conversing with each other easily.

Is the language used by the teacher appropriately graded and paced? Give examples .
Yes. The flow between the teacher and students is very nice. She gets the students heavily involved in leading the class which is great as they
are practicing their speaking skills.

Are instructions to tasks and activities clear? Do learners seem to know what to do? Give
examples.
Instructions to the tasks are very clear and the t sets tasks quickly allowing the students to do all the talking.

Yes. T provides feedback after the task. Personality traits slide: T fills out missing words and says the word out loud- Ss repeated the words
each time t gave the missing word.
