Butler states that, historically, feminism (and the world at large) has viewed gender in a binary fashion.

In other words, humans are typically divided into two distinct categories: men and women. She argues
against these binary categories, stating that gender should be seen as a human attribute that shifts and
changes rather than remaining fixed. She contends that women have been lumped together in a group
with shared characteristics and interests, and this limits their ability to choose their own unique
identities.

Gender performativity is a term first used by Judith Butler her 1990 book Gender Trouble. She argues
that being born male or female does not determine behavior. Instead, people learn to behave in
particular ways to fit into society. The idea of gender is an act, or performance.[1] This act is the way a
person walks, talks, dresses, and behaves. She calls this acting "gender performativity." What society
regards as a person's gender is just a performance made to please social expectations and not a true
expression of the person's 'gender identity'.

Siya yung unang gumamit nung word na gender performativity and yung argument nya is about hthe
gender kasi before kapag sinabing gender ..people usually think of male and female …
stating that gender should be seen as a human attribute that shifts and changes rather than remaining
fixed.

gender is performativity because it is act or perform raw.. and sinabi nya pa na nobody is really a
gender from the start dahil hindi mo masasabi ang gender raw ng isang tao kung walang action or
performance na ginawa at kung magbabase kalang sa biological features … at ito ay nagbabago depende
sa act or pineperform mo .. so nobody is really a gender from the start
dagdag lang is sabi nya pa na hindi lng naman porket yun yung pinakita or perform mo ay yun na tlga
yung gender indentity mo minsan kasi parang need mol ng magpanggap kasi yon ang naayon sa paligid
mo o society….. so nasasayo tlga kung ano ung gender identity mo ……
