1-4 Month Baby Routine Guide

1-2 MONTH BABY SAMPLE SCHEDULE

TIME ACTIVITY
7:15 / 7:30AM W A K E (You heard baby stirring at 7am but left them to rest a bit)
7:30-8:30AM FEEDING (Baby took full wake time to have a full feeding)
8:30-10:00AM N A P # 1 (Baby woke at 9:15 but you were able to pick them up and rock back to sleep)
10:00AM FEEDING
10:30-10:45AM W A K E T I M E (Baby started showing tired cues at the 45 min wake window mark)
10:45-12:00PM NAP #2 (Slept 1.5 hours since the last nap was only initially 45 minutes )
12:00-12:30PM W A K E T I M E (Notice, baby didn't eat as soon as they woke up- played a bit first)
12:30PM F E E D I N G (Last ate at 10 and wasn't showing huger cues so waited until 12:30 to feed)
1:00-3:00PM NAP #3 (Woke at 12 and wouldn't sleep in crib so placed in carrier and slept another hour)

3:00PM FEEDING
3:30-4:00PM W A K E T I M E (Mom ran an errand while baby was awake)
4:00-4:45PM NAP #4 (Baby napped straight 45 minutes but was up in crib cooing until 5)
5:00- 5:30PM WAKE TIME
5:30PM FEEDING (Baby last ate at 3:30 so didn't eat right after waking. Will eat now then nap)

5:30-6:00PM C A T N A P (Baby takes a short nap in safe baby swing while mom cleans)

6:00-6:30PM W A K E T I M E (Baby has a quick bath and mom does bedtime routine)
7:30PM F E E D I N G & S L E E P (This is baby's last "daytime" feeding and it's time for nighttime sleep)
10:30PM D R E A M F E E D (Gently woke baby to offer a dream feed/or wait until baby wakes to feed)

BABY THEN SLEEPS AS LONG AS POSSIBLE BEFORE NEXT FEEDING

Notice how each schedule is flexible – feeding times relatively stay around 2.5 to 3 hours and the naps
are approximately every 1 hour and last between 30 min to 2 hours. But some naps are shorter than
N others and the rest of the day is slightly altered. Some wake windows may be shorter too. This is

12:45PM F E E D I N G (Took the rest of wake time to have a full feeding)
2:00-3:30PM N A P # 3 (Woke at 2:30 and wouldn't sleep in crib so held back to sleep for another 30 min)
3:45PM FEEDING
4:15-4:30PM W A K E T I M E (Mom ran an errand while baby was awake)
4:45-5:45PM C A T N A P # 4 (Baby takes a short nap and is in and out of sleep in a safe baby swing )
5:45-6:45PM W A K E T I M E (Baby has a quick bath and has longer wake window before nighttime sleep)
6:45PM FEEDING (This is baby's last "daytime" feeding and it's time for nighttime sleep)

7:15PM P U T D O W N T O S L E E P (Does bedtime routine)

This sample routine shows a bedtime between 7-8 pm with baby eating at 6:45pm. But some babies do better
