It is true that piaget and vygotsky's theories have a common believe when it comes to education
because both thought that such education was necessary for the growth of more moral and
progressive communities. Reason and culture, according to Piaget and Vygotsky, must inform
one another in order to advance and despite their shared conviction that schools must be
constructivist spaces, they disagree on specific theories and approaches to implementing
constructivism in the classroom and Vygotsky agreed with Piaget that cognitive capacities grow
in stages and that the stages' descriptions are generally accurate; however, he saw cognitive
development as a social process in which children learn from knowledgeable adults.

When it comes to Vygotsky social constructivism and Piaget cognitive constructivism is different
because Vygotsky explores the value of learning alongside peers and how culture affects the
accommodation and assimilation of knowledge while Piaget focuses on the interaction of
experiences and ideas in the creation of new knowledge. Dewey places a strong emphasis on
inquiry and the blending of classroom and outside of class activities and Piaget thought that the
individual was the main factor in the learning process, but Vygotsky thought that the social
environment was the main factor.

according to Piaget's theory (Woolfolk, A., 2004), children advance through the phases of
cognitive development through maturation, methods of discovery, and some social transmissions
through assimilation and accommodation. The significance of culture and language in one's
cognitive development was emphasized by Vygotsky's theory.

Examples of comparison/contrast between piaget and vygotsky's theories.

 Vygotsky viewed cognitive development as a socially mediated process, in which

children depend on aid from adults as they encounter new challenges, in contrast to
Piaget's emphasis on children's independent efforts to make sense of their world.
 Piaget claimed that a child's innate propensity to adapt to new situations is what drives
cognitive growth, but Vygotsky claimed that social interaction is what drives cognitive
development.
 Children learn through active self-discovery, according to Piaget why Vygotsky said
children learn through instruction and guidance.
