JOINT AFFIDAVIT OF ARREST

We, P01 BENJAMIN MAGDANGAL and P01 CHARLES DIKON, both of legal ages, bona fide
members of the Philippine National Police(PNP), and presently assigned at Davao City Police Station,
after having been duly sworn to in accordance with law, do hereby depose and state that:
1) At exactly 6:00PM of April 15, 2021 Central 911 informed this office that shooting incident
transpired at Petro Gazz Gasoline station, Lower Binugao, Barangay Binugao, Toril, Davao City.
A copy of the Police Blotter Report dated 27 May 2021 is hereby attached as ANNEX “A”;

2) Thereafter, PNPchief Arden B. Jayawon (Station Commander) together with PCMS Danilo
Alngog and PCPL Glenn Mark Protacio duty investigators and Intel Personnel onboard Mobile
31 manned by PCPL Java left this office and verify the veracity of the report aforementioned
information, and if affirmative, to conduct an ocular investigation;

3) With a PNP Team led by Police Inspector (PI) Janeth Escandallo we acted on the information
earlier reported to us and proceeded to Lower Binugao, Barangay Binugao, Toril, Davao City;

4) Upon the initial interview conducted disclosed that at exactly 6:00 pm of the same date, while
MICHAEL EJADA (witness), male, 25 years old, single, Pumpboy and stay-in at Petro Gazz
Gasoline station, Lower Binugao, Barangay Binugao, Toril, Davao City and native of Dandanon,
Butuan City was on duty at the said gasoline station when the suspect identified as RENATO
CAÑETE JR Alias “JR”, male, 29 years old, former Tanker driver of Petro Gazz and transient
resident of Bago Aplaya, Davao City arrived and had a confrontation with the witness and
afterwards went inside the employee’s quarter then pulled-out a undetermined handgun from his
waist and fired towards the victim wherein identified as ROSA MAE AJENO, female, 22 years
old, single, Pump attendant of Petro Gazz, native of GenSan City and transient resident of Purok
1, Barangay Sirawan, Toril, Davao City and sustained a gunshot wound on her stomach;

5) After the incident suspect fled onboard his driven Toyota Innova color Silver gray bearing plate
no. GAV 2572 towards North bound while victim was brought to Southern Philippines Medical
Center (SPMC) for immediate medical attention under the care of Dr, Andria Dominggo, MD.

6) SOCO Personnel arrived Led by (PI) Jayden Fernadez and processed the crime scene and were
able to recovered the following evidences:

1.) one (1) deformed slug of undetermined firearm,

2.) one (1) fired cartridge and

3.) two(2) pcs. Live ammunitions believed to be of .45 caliber pistol.

A photograph of the shell casings of bullets collected in the place of incident is hereby attached
as ANNEX "B";

7) We immediately informed our Office/Unit confirming the incident. Shortly thereafter, in

coordination with Davao City Police Station, we conducted a manhunt for the possible
apprehension of the suspect;

8) Upon the conduct of follow-up operation by personnel of this office suspect identified his true
name as RENATO CAÑETE RIO JR. Alias “JR”, male, 29 years old, single, driver, native of
Malatibas, Panabo City and transient resident of Purok 6, Barangay Bago Gallera, Talomo
District, Davao City was successfully apprehended at Sitio Sta. Marina, Barangay Binugao, Toril,
Davao City;

9) While the one (1) unit Toyota Innova color Silver Gray bearing plate no. GAV 2572 registered
under the name of Dario C Gawan resident of Purok 9, Barangay Bago Gallera, Talomo District,
Davao City was recovered and left unattended by the suspect at Sitio Lomboy, Barangay
Binugao, Toril, Davao City;

10) Suspect is positively pinpointed and identified by the witness as the very same person who shot
the victim and thereafter brought the suspects to Davao City Police Station for further
investigation and proper disposition. A copy of the Extract Copy of police Blotter is hereby
attached as ANNEX "D";

11) The bullet fragments were later forwarded to us by the Medico Legal Doctor after the victim was
rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) of Davao City for medical treatment.
A copy of the photograph of the bullet fragments are hereby attached as ANNEX"E";

12) We execute this affidavit to attest to the veracity of the aforementioned facts and to support the
filing of appropriate charge/s in court against the arrested suspects.
