M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to spell at least 5 out of 8 action words correctly.
At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to identify, recognize and name the letters of the alphabet
C correctly.
1. Show flashcards of action words with misspelled words.
I. PRE-LESSON
2. Pupils identify and correct the spelling errors.
1. Activity 1:
➢ Show flashcards of objects and check pupils know the vocabulary.
➢ Pupils spell the words orally.
➢ Put the flashcards on the board.
➢ Draw a table on the board and write the group number in each column.
➢ Put pupils in groups. The groups decide an order (who will go first, second and so on)
➢ Give the first pupil in each group a board pen/chalk.
II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT ➢ Point to one of the flashcards on the board. When you say ‘Go!’ they should go to the
board and write the word . Then it is the next pupil’s turn. They don’t need to worry
too much about spelling at this point.
➢ After each pupil has had a turn, review the words on the board so that the class
corrects any spelling mistakes together.
2. Activity 2:
➢ Distribute verbs flap book to the pupils.
➢ Pupils write the correct action words based on the pictures given.
➢ Go around the class to monitor and help.
1. Write a letter.
III. POST LESSON 2. Pupils sound the letter. e.g. s
3. Pupils name a verb/verbs that they know that begins/begin with the letter given. (swim, sing)
