CRIMES AGAINST SCs/STs

1473. SHRI JOSE K. MANI:

Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the latest data on the percentage of crimes against SCs/STs that fell into
the category of rape or sexual assault;

(b) whether this percentage has been increasing since 2015;

(c) how many cases of rape against SCs/ STs have been pending trial from
previous years; and

(d) the latest conviction rate in such cases?

(a) & (b): National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) compiles and publishes

information on crimes in its publication “Crime in India”. Published reports are

available till the year 2018. As per the published information, percentage of

crimes against Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) that fell

into the category of rape and sexual assault during 2015 to 2018 are at

Annexure-I. The data shows no uniform trend.

(c) & (d): As per the published information, cases of rape against SCs/STs

pending trial from previous years and the conviction rate in the year 2018 is

also given at Annexure-I.
