Health Engineer - Aircraft Systems

Job Description

● Team Description

The Maintenance Team at Airbus India utilizes primarily System Engineering and Health engineering
competencies. This team is responsible for defining the maintenance systems of tomorrow for the
aircraft, designing the BITE specifications for the systems, providing the customization mods needed for
the aircraft, and developing diagnostic and prognostic solutions to improve the maturity of systems and
to provide health monitoring capabilities by applying machine learning algorithms, reliability concepts,
an adept understanding of aircraft systems and modeling and simulation capabilities. The team works
with both commercial and defense & space ecosystems and is also engaged on Airbus Skywise (the
singular access point to data analytics) utilizing Big Data, Java & Python skills to create data-driven
models. We are a team strongly invested in R&T initiatives that are dedicated to supporting future
aircraft health needs. This team is part of Simulation & Physical Systems, a department that works on
providing simulation means for most aircraft systems and industrial needs through the application of
systems engineering, MBSE, certification abilities, etc.
● Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a Health Engineer who is self-motivated and driven to work on Data analytics,
Predictive algorithms and Onboard maintenance systems being responsible for:

○ Understanding of aircraft systems such as landing gear, hydraulics, propulsion, fuel

systems, onboard maintenance etc.
○ Understanding the technological needs of the design offices and its extended ecosystem
(customers, suppliers, strategic partners etc.) following the system engineering process.
○ Perform data analysis over post flight report (PFR) /logbooks etc from Skywise to
monitor safety related KPIs and improve safety of the system of interest.
○ Identify and define KPI’s, create dashboards/tools and analytical models vital for tracking
and managing the business using feature engineering/data wrangling techniques.
○ Identify challenges by analyzing trends from data and initiate process/product
improvements.
○ Build physics informed data driven models for system diagnostic and prognostic
algorithms.
○ Understanding of different communication protocols and creation of customized field
loadable softwares based on airliner’s requirements.

● Required experience & Skills

○ B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.E. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or electrical or
electronics & communication engineering.
○ Awareness of different communication protocols.
○ Exposure to data analytics & related tools (Matlab, Python, R, etc.).
○ Ability to understand and model the physical behavior of aircraft systems using 1-D
solving tools such as Simulink/AMESim.
○ Business proficiency in English

● Nice to Have
○ Proficiency in quickly grasping the technical details of different aircraft systems and
associating the technology to solve relevant problem statements.
○ Good communicator to represent Airbus India as part of the project
○ Self-motivated individual interested in working on data science concepts for aviation
industry
○ Strong team player motivated to collaborate and find synergies
○ Excellent analytical skills and proven ability to solve problems creatively
