The ideal installation should have 360° view of the sky with no obstructions 8° off the horizon, viet, AXct at For Citadel Installations, itis desired that the antenna be located hidden from unauthorized access. It has been identified by ship engineers that the funnel area meets this requirement. ‘The installer and user must be aware of important installation information, limitations and compromises. Satellite visibility If this visibility must be compromised, satellite accessibility ‘ill be reduced some percentage of the time. Ie fictions The antenna is often hidden from view near the ship’s funnel. The exposed antenna is fated for -40°C to 70°C. Therefore, care must be taken in locating the antenna away from heat vents or other heat sources, Permanent damage can ocour at temperatures above the operating specification, Title: Document No. applied satellite ) | Citadel Installation and CIT-INST-001 Rev Level: 001 _ | Effective Date: 6/04/2012 Page 3 of 9 Troubleshooting Guide Cable Routing ‘The diagram below shows typical wiring between antenna and Citadel safe room. The GREEN LED on the bottom of the antenna should be lit when power is applied. This LED will be on solid if the system has initialized and registered with the Iridium satelites. A blinking LED means; ‘SEARCHING: Siow blink (once per second) indicates the system is searching for the satellites. Stops blinking and ums solid green upon registration. REGISTERED: Solid green indicates the system has found the satellites, has registered with the network, and is ready for use. BOOT ERROR: Fast blink (3 - 4 per second) indicates the system has failed its power up seif-diagnostics or is being firmware uploaded, + TEST POINT #8. Verify that source power (24V/DC) is present in junction box or other connection point in your system. TEST POINT #4. RU-11/POTS voltages can be checked and confirmed at this location: IMPORTANT: No RJ-11/POTS voltages will be present if the Power LED indicates a BOOT ERROR has occurred. ‘© Approximately 48\/DC should be present when the RJ-11/POTS phone is turned off (GREEN LED is NOT iit) Polarity is not important as it will reverse between calls, © Approximately 10VDC should be present when the Ru-11/POTS phone is turned on (GREEN LED is lit and Dial tone present). Polarity is not important Title: Document No. applied satellite ) | Citadel Installation and CIT-INST-001 Troubleshooting Guide Rev Level: 001 _| Effective Date: 6/04/2012 Page 7 of 9 + TEST POINT #5. These same RJ-11/POTS voltages can also be checked inside the lockable cabinet at the spiiter. Polarity is not important » TEST POINT #6. If some or all of the above test points are invalid, the antenna may not be receiving power, or the wiring is incorrect somewhere in the system.
