Boundaries

History of Gujarat
● Gujarat was one of the main central areas of the Indus Valley Civilisation.
● It contains ancient metropolitan cities from the Indus Valley such as Lothal,

● The Chaulukya dynasty ruled Gujarat from 960 to 1243.
● Chatrapati Shivaji, the great Maratha ruler, attacked Surat in southern

Geography
● Gujarat is a state on the western coast of India with a coastline of 1,600 km.

Narmada covers the longest distance in its passage through the state.
● The Sardar Sarovar Project is built on the Narmada River, one of the major
rivers of peninsular India.
● Girnar is the tallest peak and Saputara is the only hill-station in the state.
● The Rann of Kutch is a seasonally marshy saline clay desert located in the
Thar Desert.
● The 14th Gujarat Legislative Assembly election, 2017 was held on 9 December-14 December
2017.
● The election was won decisively by the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party with an increase in the
vote share.
