[after the break]
15:30 - 16:00 - Panel Discussion
Hello once again, welcome back, and welcome to our panel discussion, as part of the
build-up to the long-awaited UK EXA Awards Ceremony. We have great panelists, and I
have some very interesting questions for them and I'm eager to hear what they have to
say. So, without further ado, let's jump right in. Please, welcome our panelists:
-Scott Blurton, Head of Pensions at Bupa [applause]
-Kate Innes, Chief People Officer at Vertas Group [applause]
-Santiago Daniele, Project Director at Hochtief-Murphy Joint Venture [applause]
- Saira Demmer, CEO at SF Recruitment [applause]
Before we kick the discussion, I would just like to mention - in case some of you might not
know - that our panelists are not just experts in their given fields; they are all nominated at
UK EXA '23 in the category "Leader of the Year".
So, we're talking to potential winners. How exciting! From my side, a big, big WELL DONE
on reaching the finals; it is a sure sign that you have considerable results in employee
experience, and that you'll keep reaching fantastic results in the future.
Okay, and now - let's have a great chat, shall we?
QUESTIONS FOR SCOTT:
1. Scott, a significant part of your initiative, mentioned in your entry, was - quote -
"Restructuring the makeup of the team to include communication and engagement as a
defined goal for the first time to improve colleague’s experiences". What do you think are
the main reasons why team communication and engagement is lacking? And what is the
best way to improve this?
2. And in addition to good communication and engagement, is there a "third factor" for
team success and good EX that you would include? And how to ensure these don't wear
off after some time?
QUESTIONS FOR KATE:
1. Kate, you have transformed the HR Team in your organization from an admin heavy,
old fashioned HR function to a true People Team, by developing the individuals within
the team to reach their true potential. Can you give us an overview of how you
approached this massive project?
2. On a similar note: for an employee to rise up to their true potential, what would you
say is the number-one prerequisite? Is there one specific thing that you have noticed
play a major role in this?
QUESTIONS FOR SANTIAGO:
1. Santiago, you have led your team using the “One Team, One Spirit” ethos. But can you
tell us: what is the first thing one should do after being appointed Project Manager and
taking over, since one of your main areas of development was collaborative approach?
2. You mentioned that, among many other strategic benefits for HMJV, there is
"positive attitude to change". Can you elaborate a bit more on this and give
examples of when this was crucial for team success?
QUESTIONS FOR SAIRA:
1. What would you say is the most important thing an employee needs in order to feel
they're truly contributing to the company? How to infuse a sense of meaningful
contribution to the business?
2. How to devise an employee-benefit plan that is suitable for a specific company?
Where should a company start developing its benefits to suit its workforce?
Additional question for the host for all panelists, if the audience has no question in the
Q&A session after the regular panel:
What are some of the most noticeable trends in Employee Experience that you've
noticed in the last couple of months, or during the previous year? What got your
attention as a factor that can drastically change or improve employee experience in the
following decade?
16:00 - 16:15 - Closing word
(End of the conference, greeting the guests.)
