GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH OUTLINE

- Follow American Psychological Association (APA) format and


style (refer to Purdue Online Writing Lab at
https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/10/)
- maximum of five (5) pages
- Letter size bond paper, Courier New 12pt, single spacing

The outline should contain the following:

Proposed research title (full caps)

Author (full caps: first name middle name family name)

Academic Degree being pursued

Background of the study


 Rationale of the study
 Situational analysis of the research topic
 Importance of the study, related literature and
objectives of the research study)
 Theoretical/Conceptual Framework (inclusive of the
definition of terms and research paradigm)

Statement of the Problem and Hypotheses (if applicable)


 General Problem
 At least two (2) specific problems

Methodology (include data gathering instrument, if


available)
 Population and Locale of the Study (sampling
design, if used)
 Methods/Procedures (include research method,
respondents or sources of data, data gathering
instrument)
 Data Gathering Procedure
 Treatment of Data

Research Paradigm (in one page)
