Analysis:

The tolerance value allowed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology for a 50 mL
buret is either a negative or a positive 0.05mL. Corrections should not exceed this deviation from
0 – 50 mL. In trials 1 to 3, graphs show that there is a noticeable gap between points. According
to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, any pair of points should not exceed more
than 0.04mL. This proves that the calibration of this buret has unacceptable errors resulting to
inaccuracy of data gathered.

Conclusion:

Errors are unavoidable especially when it comes to measurements. There are a lot of things to
consider including the apparatus used and how it should be used. Human errors are very common
that is why we use calibration to minimize these errors. In this experiment the accuracy of readings
is affected by the quality of the video presented. Marks are indistinguishable due to poor lighting
and camera focus. In conclusion, this experiment shows that accuracy of data can easily be
affected. In addition, since errors are unavoidable it is important to use correction values to
determine whether the gathered data is acceptable. Corrected values help determine accurate
results in experiments.
