A magic lamp

Many years ago, there was once a wizard who had a very valuable

treasure, for it made any dream come true. It was a lamp, a magic

lamp, which had passed from generation to generation until finally it

was coming into the hands of the latest descendent, Saloma.

Saloma was about to turn twelve, and she received the magic lamp as

a birthday present from her parents. For the first place, Saloma was

very disappointed to get the lamp as her birthday present. But, she

just ignored her feeling. The instructions were very simple, as her

father explained: “Saloma, the magic lamp will make any wish come

true, but it will only grant wishes that are truly good for you. And all

you need to do is rub the magic lamp several times.” her father said.

That day, Saloma did not dare to pick up the magic lamp from her

parents. She was a little nervous about it, for she still didn’t know

what to ask or what was truly good for her. In the end, she decided

to take a rest and sleep. But....in the middle of the night Saloma

suddenly woke up with a start, jumped out of bed and picked up the

magic lamp that she had left on her bedside table.”Hurm...What

should I wish the best? Should I wish for a new dress? Expensive

watch? Or...What a headache...”

She had thought of something and was very intrigued to know if the

magic lamp would grant it...

Saloma shut her eyes tightly and rubbed the magic lamp three times,

then she put it on the floor. After a few minutes, her wish still

hadn’t been granted .So, she decided to wait a little longer.

“Granny,do you play a trick with me? What a useless lamp I had1”

said Saloma....She sat in front of the magic lamp, getting more eager

and more impatient.

A few minutes later, she couldn’t stand it any longer...Saloma had

been waiting more than an hour in front of the lamp. Little by little,

her eyes began to close. But, suddenly a ray of yellow flash began to

shine from the magic lamp. Whoosh!(sound) The light grew stronger

and stronger that forcing the little poor girl to shield her face from

the radiance.

“What happened to the lamp?”shouted Saloma. In an instant the

light vanished and...Saloma’s wish was there before her; She couldn’t

believe it.” Yes,! Yes! Yes! It worked !”Saloma shouted and jumped

overjoyed. There...in front of Saloma, there was a brand new

computer .She wanted to be a computer scientist when she grew up

and she had always wished her parents to buy her one.

Unfortunately, they hadn’t been able to get it because of computers

were very expensive and his parents didn’t have much money for it.

Saloma was very happy to see that the magic lamp had granted her

wish; Now,at last she had a computer and she could start learning
new things for her future life. She decided to study hard and went

to university.
