Cell Phones for Tweens: Safety Debate

Linder Slider's speech arguing that children should wait until age 16 to get cell phones was more persuasive because it provided more scientific facts and evidence. The other speech focusing on "tweens" being ready failed to adequately address safety concerns and lacked responsibility. Linder showed cell phones give unsupervised access to inappropriate internet sites and dangerous situations, while the other speaker primarily focused on business interests without facts. Based on the evidence provided, the author believes Linder's argument that tweens should wait to use cell phones is more convincing.

The position I think that was better supported is the speech;Wait Until

They Are Older by Linder Slider. That speech is more specific. And more scienticfic
facts.
He said the curiosity and energy is the most powerful thing that owned by child. But
those same qualities can lead to trouble if not overseen by adults. That’s why
giving children their own phones actually makes them less safe, not more. I believe
that the best age for a cell phone is 16, the point at which we consider kids
grown-up enough to learn to drive — and even then, parents must set firm limits on
phone use!
on the other hand, the speech:“Tweens” Are Ready for Cell Phones by Deborah
Pendergast was more feelings and less facts. He said as a representative of a large
telecommunications company. So,we can get the one from his speech is not for kid.It
was for a large communications company. Then he mentioned about "depends on the
child"
That shows the lack of responsabilty.
Linder Slinder also showed other reasons that can make his speech
stronger. He mentioned that the dangerous situations of tweens use cell phones. For
another, cell phones give children access to all the frightening, dangerous, and
inappropriate sites on the Internet, with no parent nearby to monitor this
activity.
First speaker can show the evidences that showed he is right is only
60% .Otherwise, the second speaker can showed 90%.That is the main point I can
choose the
second speaker easily.
In concultion,we can say that tweens need to wait until they older to use
cell phones from this “Safer Kids Summit” event and the speechs by Linder Slider
and
Deborah Pendergast.I can say the people at that event would get enough knowledge
about tweens using cellphones. That will help them to protect their children noy
only from
cyberbullyings and textbullings but also from other dangerous cases from using cell
phones in early ages.
