Customer Needs

Daniela Sofia Fernandes de Assis

1. Student created a refined gap statement
The gap consists of finding a way to keep my family’s dogs outside the house but with
enough space for them to wander around. The problem started when my sister and I
decided to let the kennel’s door open so that the dogs could also stay at the garage
since the kennel itself is really small. The garage is directly linked with the front door of
the house, in that matter the dogs have access to the house when we leave the door
open, since we live in a tropical country, or when we just enter or get out of the house.
This has been happening for about two months and created a tension between my
parents and my sister and I because although we do not encounter any problems with
the dogs being inside the house my parents do. Thus, if this can be resolved in a simple
and with good cost-benefit it would not only create a friendlier environment in my house
but also give my dogs the freedom to walk around.

2. One short paragraph about the experience of gathering user needs

The experience resulted in giving me more detailed aspects about the problem itself.
Aspects that I have not noticed or have thought about it. All the interviewers gave
different reasons why the problem is a problem and what the solution might be, such as
a pet gate, leaving the pets in the kennel or just by shutting the door. Lastly, it enriched
my knowledge about the user needs and the different experiences and interactions that
each person has.
