Teacher Notes

● Look at the page from the book about the toaster. Elicit from the
children from this text is explaining a process and is an explanation
text. Discuss the features.

● The children will have a example of an explanation text on their table


stuck onto a large piece of coloured paper. You could give all the
groups the same text or different ones- there is a selection in the
folder. The children should stick the features labels onto the coloured
paper and colour the text where they found the feature.

● Share the different examples as a class and add to working wall.

Grammar warm up: apostrophes for contraction

Rewrite the sentences so that each one includes an apostrophe to show


the contracted word.
