Project Summary
Reading exposes learners to many new words that they have to sound
out and learn the meaning for, which increases their ability to express
thoughts effectively. Having great base of vocabulary words makes
learners feel more confident not only in their reading skills but also in
writing and speaking.
This project is a basic step for learners to like reading , it will help
learners to improve their reading skills. With the use of printed materials
and one on one sessions of Teachers and Learners with the supervision
of the school head, we can execute the process of reading / learning.
Project WORD is consist of practices that were professed since the start
of this school year.
Project Background and Rationale
Reading has been one of the most serious issues that we
teachers must be focused on. Learners nowadays are
preoccupied with the so-called millennial influencer – the
gadgets, which bring a lot of destruction to them. In today’s
world with so much to know and learn from our learners, it
is difficult for us teachers to handle numerous problems
when it comes to the reading category of our individual
pupils.
This pandemic challenged all of us on how to be
vigilant and creative enough in pursuing our main goal in
this field of education – that is every child is a reader, every
child a continuing learner.
Once a child’s mind is opened by his intrinsic
willingness to read, the process will go on its way.
Encouragement is the key and regular practice is the
procedure that fits the entire process of reading. This is
somehow considered a basic step in our PROJECT
W.O.R.D. (Ways On Reading Development) which consists
of the best practices wherein we indulged in since the start
of the school year 2022-2023.

Project Objecttives
1. Identify pupils who are non-readers and have difficulty in
reading.
2. Make every pupil a reader both in Filipino and in English.
3. Establish routine and training program that will help learner
who wishes to have an improvement in their reading skill.
4. Inculcate the sense of discipline, and the genuine love for
reading that will help them to become a reader and concern
citizen of school and community.

Project Deliverables
Creating this PROJECT WORD brings us challenges yet an
opportunity to discover our capability in molding our learners’
eagerness for their development in reading. It also aimed to eliminate
non-readers in our class and help the learners to enhance their reading
comprehension.
Project Risk Management
There will be a participation of the parents in this
activity. Home visitation is done to ensure that supervision
in reading at home is being given by their parents. In
addition, it is best to see and evaluate the learners’ situation
at home. It is a big question why they do not even recognize
letters or words although they reached sixth grade. It is
better to identify what really is lacking in them.
