MODIFIED RESIN

1.pH determination
- Add 4 ± 0.01gr RESIN into 196g distilled water, mix in 10 ± 0.5 mins using Multimixer at
11500 rpm. Let the mixture cool down to room temperature at 25 ± 1oC, obtain the pH using
pH meter.

2. Moisture content determination

- Record the mass of a completely dry glass disk as m.
- Weigh 10 ±0.01 g of RESIN sample into the above glass disk, record weight of RESIN as
m1.
- Dry that sample in oven at temperature of 105 ± 1oC to a constant mass. Record total drying
time. Cool down that sample to room temperature ( 25 ± 1oC ) in a desiccator. Record weight
of both glass disk and RESIN powder as m2.
- Moisture content in %weight is calculated as: % Moisture content = (m+m1-m2) x 100 / m1

3. Apparent viscosity, API Fluid loss and HTHP Fluid loss before aging.
- To 350ml of distilled water, add 1,0g ± 0,01g of sodium carbonate (Soda Ash) and mix for 1
min. After that add 20,0g ± 0,1g of API standard calibration Bentonite. Continue mixing for
20 ± 1 min. Then add 30±0.1g KCl to that slurry, keep mixing for about additional 2 min,
then add 6±0.1g PAC LV, mix for additional 3 min, then finally add 6±0.1g RESIN and blend
for 10 min. Allow that mixture to cool down to temperature of 25 °C ± 1°C (77 °F ± 2 °F) for
about 2 hours. (Slurry 1)
- Obtain apparent viscosity at 49oC, API Fluids loss and HTHP fluid loss (500psi differential
pressure, 130oC).

4. Apparent viscosity, API Fluid loss and HTHP Fluid loss after aging.
- Age the above slurry (Slurry 1) in hot roller at temperature of 150oC for 16 hours. Cool
down to room temperature using chilled water and then record Apparent viscosity at 49oC,
API Fluids loss and HTHP fluid loss (500psi differential pressure, 130oC).
