The story so far

To support your clients, you’ll need to know your way around their QuickBooks Online
companies.
It’s time we worked with a QuickBooks Online client company. Let’s take a look at Craig’s
Landscaping. Craig needs your help fast if his business is to meet its potential.

How can QuickBooks Online help?

You can effortlessly switch between QuickBooks Online Accountant and your clients. The
Client Switcher drop-down menu in the top toolbar contains all your clients, allowing you to
move between accounts without having to return to your practice's QuickBooks Online
Accountant page each time.
The clients you see in the Client List are the clients’ accounts you have access to. In this
lesson, you’ll see the basics of a client's QuickBooks Online company.
When you work with your client companies through QuickBooks Online Accountant, you can
access features and menu options that the client won’t ever see. These allow you to efficiently
carry out bookkeeping-only or accountant-only tasks.

Switch between Accountant and Business view

In QuickBooks Online, there are two user views: Business and Accountant. You can switch
between them at any time.
The main difference between the two is their appearance. Feature, menu, and button names
are different, but the actions you can take in each view are identical in most cases. Some
features are only available in one view and not the other.
Select the tabs to find out more.

 Business view
 How to switch views
There might be times when you want to switch to see your client's file in Business view, or to
ask your client to switch to Accountant view. Changing views doesn’t affect your client’s
accounts or data.
Here's how to make the switch:

1. Select the Gear icon
2. Select Switch to Business view or Switch to Accountant view

ProAdvisor tip

As an accountant or bookeeper you'll find Accountant view most helpful, so this is what you'll
see in all the product demonstrations in this training.

Finding your way around

A QuickBooks Online company is essentially made up of lists, transactions, and reports that
represent the activities of the company.
As you know, this isn’t as straightforward as some people might think. It’s the story of a
business. It records successes and disappointments, growth periods and downturns, who owes
the client money and what the client owes others.
The easy-to-use navigation tools bring all this information to your fingertips. Let’s take a
closer look.
