Tajuk Cerita : “Unconditional Love”

Good Morning to the master of the ceremony, the honorable judges, the
time keeper, teachers and all my fellow friends. Today I’m going to tell you a
story with moral ending that will truly makes us appreciate our mother. The
story entitled “Unconditional Love”. Sit back, relax and enjoy the story.

My mother had only eye. I hated her, she was such an embarrassment. She
worked at the same school where I was studying.

She cooked for students and teachers. My Father was dead so she was
working to support the family.

One day during elementary school my mom came to say “Hello” to me in

front of my classroom. I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out.

The next day at school one of my classmates laughed at me and said

“EEEEE! Your mom only has one eye?” I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted
my mom to disappear from the world at the very moment.

So I confronted her that day and said

“If you’re only going to make me a laughing stock why don’t you just die?”

My mom did not respond.

I didn’t even start to think for a second about what I said because I was
full of anger. I didn’t care for a moment about her feelings. All I wanted is to go
out of the house. So I studied really hard, got a chance to go to Singapore to
study. Then I got married. I bought a house of my own, I had children of my
own. I was happy with my life.

Then one day my mom came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me for years and
she didn’t even meet her grandchildren. When she stood by the door my children
saw her and laughed at her. When I saw her, I immediately screamed at her.

“How dare you come to my house and scare my children. Get out of here
now”

And to that, my mom quietly answered

“Oh I’m sorry I may have gotten to the wrong address”

And she disappeared out of sight. One day a letter regarding a school
reunion came to my house. I lied to my husband that I was going on a business
trip. After the meeting I went to see that old shack I had lived just out of
curiosity. My neighbors told me that my mother died. I did not shed a single tear.
They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest daughter, I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to
your house and scared your children. I was so glad when I heard you were coming
for reunion. But I may not be able even to get out of bed to see you when you’ll
come. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were
growing up. You know when you were very little you got into an accident and you
lost your eye. As a mother I couldn’t stand watching you growing up with one eye.
So I took mine and I gave it to you. I love you my child with all my heart, Your
Mother”

My heart stopped, I cried and suddenly remembered a quote “A mother

who radiates self-love and self-acceptance actually vaccinates her daughter against
low self-esteem”

The moral of the story is we should love and appreciate our family
members while they are still alive. You may have a low self-esteem but if you
don’t have a family, you have nothing. You can’t buy it. You can have all the
money in the world but you just can’t buy a real family with real love deep in the
heart.

That’s the end of my story, thank you.
