A HELPING HAND IS A HAND OF HOPE

(A Reflection)

To help is a value that we, Filipinos, have put in our hearts however small or big it is as
long as it came straight from the heart with compassion, sympathy and sincerity. No wonder why
the world has seen us to have a big pure heart. Growing up in a family that compassion, sincerity
and generosity is encapsuled in our minds as child, I know that helping other people has been my
responsibility. A responsibility that teaches us that when you share the needy what you have, to
expect nothing in return is not a matter of hope, it’s the smile radiated that they give us back.
However, as I become young adult, it remains as virtue to me, yet the challenge is defined by
availability.
As a college student, I am exposed to various circumstances that my time has been at
sake. To become busy on my academics is expected base on the level of difficulty the tertiary
education is setting its standard. From which, I have spent most of my time for academic
responsibilities that I know to myself I have to fulfill being the in the wall of the academe. I have
a lot of things I wanted to accomplish but failed to do so. Becoming part of a charity
organization as they make programs in helping other people is one of the things I wanted to do. I
wanted to partake in programs that need volunteers to help people, especially in times of
calamities that there is a need for hands of hope, helping one another hand-by-hand. More so,
eventually starting creating a youth-led organizations that could help the community, especially
the needy sectors of the community.
To fail becoming one as I prioritize my study is not selfishness at all. I believe it is setting
priorities that we have to learn, for at the end of the day, we could help bigger from making
ourself have the bigger resource, that is by investing to education. I always feel the guilt so do
regrets by failing such, but I planned to continue this mission when I have accomplished college
and make myself better for this endeavor.
To help becomes more crucial and yet the most challenging as COVID-19 pandemic
emerged as a threat to safety and health. To help other poor people or build communities or help
rebuild people lives from the effect of COVID-19 Pandemic and other natural and man-made
calamities in the near future, I think to become engaged in the community programs and making
programs that involves youth movement 5 to 10 years from not. This includes building Youth-
led organization that puts their hand to help in times of calamities such be named as Kabataan
Bayanihan organizations to engage youth for COVID-19 response and Calamity response.
I believe everyone has the power to help, though unavailability is never an excuse. Little
or big, a help is a help that is deemed as a torch for people in need, on their darkest time.
Because a hand that helps is a hand of hope.
