The displacement data is used to estimate the stiffness of the model and check for interference between the units. There should not be any interference between units under the limit loads. 2. Check the displacement distribution in the finite element model to make sure the results are not far from what is expected. 3. Checking the local deformation at the critical area will help better understand the stress results, and find ways to improve the model or structure. 4. Comparing the displacement analysis results with static test results will help improve one’s finite clement modeling skills. Panel Stress ‘The Hill or Tsai-Wu Failure Index (F.L) distribution is used to describe the margin of safety for every layer of skin of the composite panel. It can also be used to estimate the strength of the aluminum skin, For the skin of all panels, the Margin of Safety is calculated as follows: 1 KVFI. Where K is the material degradation factor. MS. For the aluminum skin, the Margin of Safety is calculated as follows: M.S. <——Fratonaie K- Max _Siress ‘Where Fujowabic is the material tension allowable Ftu or shear allowable Fsu. It depends on which Max stress is used. Ftu and Fsu are found from long beam and in-plane shear test results. The formula for the margin of safety of the floor fitting is the same as that for the aluminum skins. ‘The difference is that a fitting factor K should be used. Ftu and Fsu of the material can be referenced from MIL-HDBK-5G. 2. Plastic correction may be considered if the Max stress is bigger than Ftu. Stress for Line Components For the screws that are used to attach the floor fitting to the panel through inserts, their shear and axial forces can be found using the output of the Bar Elements. For the tic rod, its axial force or stress can be found using the output of the Rod or Tube Elements. For the coat rod, its intemal forces, stress or margin of safety distribution can found using the output of the Bar Element.
