WAP Draft 1: Is home-schooling better than traditional education?

Introduction

 Home-schooling and traditional education both have the same purpose of educating
students, however there might be different outcomes.
 Parents home schooling in Malaysia is required to obtain a permit from the Ministry of
Education Malaysia to officially start home schooling. (Leishia Jason 2016)
 In the current society, parents often have trouble deciding which is better for their children’s
future between home school and traditional education.
 Both methods have its advantages and disadvantages, this essay will be disagreeing and
discuss both methods of education.

Body Paragraph 1

 Public schools are generally funded publicly and are subject under the control of the
government, therefore the expenses on tuition fees are almost free, giving an opportunity
for students with poorer background.
 Traditional school’s curriculum activities allow students to enjoy playing sports, while also
giving them an opportunity to learn and finding out their hidden talents, display their skills
to the public, furthermore there is no cost for it.

 Socialising is a skill that needed to cultivate and strengthened from young to prepare
children in future to be enable in holding a conversation, interacting with people. (Della

 Interacting with each other helps students to develop several moral values from friendship
and teacher. They will understand how to forgive those who are at fault, respecting others
and other virtues.
 Home-schooled children have been brought up studying alone, later in life such as colleges
and further studies, they tend to be lacking socialising skills becoming more introverted. A
survey conducted by Cardus Education Survey (2011) found that home-school graduates
were significantly more likely to develop teenage depression, loneliness, social phobias.

Body Paragraph 3

 Learning is an important part of our life that everyone must go through, the main purpose of
educating students to ensures they perform well academically.
 A study from the Institute of Education at London University suggests that studying in a
group shows a more rapid progress as they are engaged in more discussions compared to
individual study.
 Traditional schools teach students to be more independent as the students are required to
keep track of their timetable, timing management on their homework and activities, in
addition to keeping track of their spending. (Kate Barrington, 2017)
 Parent/Tutor home-schooling can be quite a challenge for them because passion and
dedication to their children studies are needed for all subjects. In contrary, traditional
schools have a different teacher for each subject enabling them to concentrate more on the
students.

Conclusion
 Choosing between home schooling and traditional education is a hot debate topic
nowadays, parents need to take both methods into consideration a they always want the
best for their children.
 Disagreeing with the topic, traditional education is more practical for students due to the
importance of socialisation in the current society. Traditional education should be more
encouraged because it strongly affects the future of the students.
