What is instructional Planning?

Instructional planning includes not only planning what students will learn, but how they will learn
it. Planning should include both short-term goals and long-term goals, and for students with
exceptionalities, should address the goals on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

What are the types of Instructional Planning?

 Long-range planning
A long-range plan is a set of goals (usually five to ten) that outlines the path for the company's
future. When the long-range plan is in place, a strategic plan should be developed to define the
objectives and actions necessary to achieve the goals spelled out in the long-range plan.

 Unit Planning

The groupings of sequential lessons (by theme, topic, step in a process, skill, essential question,
etc.) that are components of the course.

 Lesson Planning

Lesson planning is the activity which the teacher performs before the actual lesson takes place. A
lesson plan is a detailed description of the instructional strategies and learning activities to be
performed during the teaching/learning process.

What are the importance of Instructional Planning?

The purpose of instructional planning is to ensure that teachers are adequately prepared to meet
the educational goals of all students, including utilizing various tools to design comprehensive
lesson plans that meet the curriculum objectives of institutions and their communities.
