MY FINAL REFLECTION PAPER ABOUT BEING AN OJT STUDENT IN

BARANGAY NANGKA
On the 1st day of my day as an OJT student I never thought that I will have a chance to fulfill my
dreams as a student at PLMAR. I’ve struggle a lot not knowing if I can continue or not despite of
all my doubts and fears I can tell to myself that I already conquer my questions in my mind.
Dealing with different challenges in life I must have the will to change my life with my family
and I was thankful to have my family for encouraging me to finish my studies upon raising my
son and for my wife for having her at my back in times when was so down. Anybody knows the
situation of the people upon dealing this pandemic and it was not easy to deal on our daily lives.
So let me introduce my reaction to the times when I was in the Barangay Nangka Marikina.
The description of the work I been through as a barangay internship student were I was
committed to the highest degrees of integrity. I’ve been committed to deliver the best Barangay
administration possible. That they are committed to fair and transparent governance upon
delivering high quality services. They are public servants who are committed to the improvement
of the policy and making services delivery abilities as well. Its means that there is no other
motivation for what they do than to be a bunch of people relentlessly trying to make things better
for the community of the barangay. The 1st day was me and my fellow classmates gather for
us to let know the agenda of set of rules and regulation of the people who were assigned for us to
do our part as an OJT student for us to call Graduates as well. Our Professors was so initiative to
gives us the right thing to do. I am very thankful to have them on our side for the years they were
teaching us all the lessons and all the hardship that they gave us to be in this situation. And we
the students will never forget them as we continue to fulfill our dreams and goals. Aside from the
experience that I have relating to my course, this is a chance allowed me to get acquainted with
the Barangay Nangka. Being with them is a pleasure because I was working with them. During
my stay there as an OJT they keep encouraging me to go hard and to do my best always. Nothing
beats the experience as the perfect learning tool. That situation serves as my stepping stone to
pursue my dream. The training gave an inspiration to be more serious and focused in my future
life and to do more efforts. The situation made me realize that it is really good to know what
you’re doing and love it. For what I can do now is to learned whatever I was and be inspired love
the path I am taking and also do my best in everything I do, with the possible outlook in my
mind. Every day is a challenge to me so in the 2 nd day when I was in the barangay me and my
classmates was assigned to the information desk to serve the people in the barangay for them to
have and to give them in a nice and decent communication upon entering the barangay.
Documents were given by the official of barangay such as Barangay Clearance, Barangay I.D
and even the different documents server as a permits. Many people reaching out to barangay
because the legitimate papers that they can use were upon to them to use. The documents help
them to have work as well and serve as an identification for them at the barangay insights. On
the 3rd day I was assigned at the Lupon ng Barangay to watch and aligned the hearings to be
heard at the office. Upon observing I find that many of the people have the situation where they
are having troubles and miscommunication on the part of different aspects. Money involved,
family problems and many situations. The moment I was there was so annoying because how
could it be even though they know already each other? Every problem has its own solution to the
fact it must be in a very nice way. Upon the hearings the case that was not being solved will go
to the higher consultation at the Supreme Court of justice. On the other side only one case was
the one I didn’t forget the case of a boy where he was a problem of the community. On the 4 th
day I was assigned to prepare the goods for the possible suspected positive of covid at the
Barangay. Me and my classmates were preparing canned goods and sack of rice. I find that so
boring because we are assigned to get the so called bukbok at the rice. The message to that was
to have the patience of what you do want to do even if they ask you to do it, because the situation
tells us to have patience in the other point of view the sack of rice that we doing was about to
delivered by the officials of the Barangay to the house of the community. Despite of the short
period of doing that it was a meaningful one. On the 5 th day we are about to have a short simple
but very informative seminar about the CTG or so called NPA’s and their different agenda to
destroy the current administration. The perspective and the objective of the seminar were
introduced by the DILG and the LGU’s involved. I didn’t know that the communists were about
to conquer the city as well the way they are and when to attack. The evil planned of them just to
bring down the government. Every day on our internship process was so important for me as a
student and as an individual. On the 6th day I was assigned to watch over at the CCTV’s at the
different areas in the Barangay. Lot of screen was able to see beyond to that I was able to locate
my location at the Barangay. One incident that I have encountered was the there was a lady
riding her e-bike and was about to collide with a fast moving car. The lady was about to crash
and thrown out to the floor. In a couple of minutes Barangay rescue response team was on the
job. They helped the lady and the police officer also arrived at the scene. They watch clearly in
the CCTV that the fault was on the fast moving car and didn’t slowdown as the driver reached
the crossing road. The officers in charge make an incident report about it. And they find it so
close to unexpected severe situation for the lady then the ambulance arrived and the lady was
able to go to the hospital for her to get cured. On the 7 th day we were able to have our final
evaluation to be conducted by the Secretary of the Barangay. All of us 4 was about to answer
questions the way it was to be answered the list of the barangay officials and their position and
nature of work. There are different offices in the Barangay Nangka. Office the Barangay
Captain, Office of the Secretary, Information Desk, Treasury Department, Lupon ng
Tagapamayapa, BADAC (Barangay Anti- Drug Abuse Council),VAWC (Violence Act
Women’s and Children), The Presint Office, and lastly The CCTV area. The question that I was
able to answer is the phone etiquette. The situation where I was able to answer a phone call from
a concern citizen and asking me to conduct a service upon how to apply for barangay clearance
and barangay I.D. and I answer the question fluently without hesitating. The proper phone
etiquette was so very informative to me because it follows the will of the one who’s answering
the phone connected to a way that should I say the personality of the person who’s on the line for
public service. I rather not to takedown all the days to be narrate because I’ve learned a lot from
it.The most memorable event during my internship in Barangay Nangka were I was assigned to
roam in the community with the officials of the barangay telling the people to wear their
facemask properly and follow the health protocols. Crowded people are all around in different
places in Barangay Nangka even children are outside playing as for the parent’s not knowing the
consequence of their doings. I fear a lot for them because we all know how the virus and its
capability to enhance the virus that were already spreading in different places in our country. Our
youth are now forced to stay home instead of going to school and spending time with their
friends. Most kids are need to be outside and with people to release their energy and socialize.
Now this cannot be happen, because the virus affected us so much. One thing we also see
happening is food insecurities and social distancing. Due to what is happening in the world,
people are very much afraid cautious about food supply.
One of the most important thing that I gain form the internship was the new found knowledge it
can include on my knowing how to accomplish tasks that are relevant to my decisions career
path and sharpening my skills that I already possess. I think that our internship mainly consist of
the making and running for superiors all day, but that was not the point the important thing is the
opportunity to test out all my skills that already developed and see how the real work goes in me
as I deal with it, also the most valuable skills I gained from internship is my ability to speak with
the people in the professional setting. Discussions with the officials of the Barangay and even
onto my classmates.
To my future career prospects I am very open to whatever opportunities the future may hold into
my life, especially on what may my life’s ahead. I pride myself as a flexible and adaptive person.
I think the best way of planning for the future is to make the most and productive as well in the
present. I see myself as a public servant in the near future. Dealing with different people in our
country for them to have my service in a nice and decent way pleasuring them with the right
attitude and make them to feel comfortable upon talking to me. I have learned to act responsibly,
ethically, and with integrity in my future career as a public servant, that I must be effective and
consistent and must provide services fairly and equitably that I must be responsible and
professional in every work I do to accomplish task and remain accountable. I defined success by
how much I am able to be of service to others. The objective that I have in my mind is the desire
to constant improve the overall policies for the ideal good government.
