3. Service Scope and Objectives
The purpose of the Monthly Patch Assessment for Oracle Enterprise Manager is to present:
This assessment utilizes a facility within Oracle called Automated Release Update (ARU) to look for the new
patches released and to provide proactive reports or recommended upgrade patches based on the study of
various general Oracle Enterprise Manager components.
From this report, customer can have an updated list of the Patches, PSUs, Bundles and OEM components
released during the month of August 2021, and in this way, keep up to date the Oracle Enterprise Manager
system.
As with all upgrades and updates, it is customer’s responsibility to maintain environments where any
patches can be thoroughly tested before changes are promoted to production.

4. Enterprise Manager 13c Patching Strategy
Oracle recommends you to keep your Enterprise Manager installation up to date with latest released
patches. To simplify the patching tasks Oracle has designed the following strategies:
PSUs
Patch Set Updates (PSUs) are proactive cumulative patches containing recommended bug fixes that
are released on a regular and predictable schedule. PSUs are on quarterly schedule, specifically the
Tuesday closest to the 17th of January, April, July, and October.
These patches are designed to be applied on the OMS and OMA Framework.
Bundle Patches
Beginning with the release of Enterprise Manager Base Platform 12.1.0.3, Oracle designed a new
patch release process to patch Cloud Control Management Agents and Cloud Control Plug-ins.
As Agent and Plug-in patches are created, they will be added to their respective bundle, tested and
released on a monthly basis as part of a cumulative bundle patch for each component. This new
process should reduce or eliminate existing problems with patch conflicts.
Release Updates
More commonly known as "RU”, they are the new way to deliver the latest EM features and bug
fixes more quickly, without waiting for a major release to deliver them. In past versions the patching
strategy was to apply "Bundle Patches (BPs)" and “PSUs”, however, since 13.4 version the Release
Updates contain all the Oracle Management Server (OMS) patches, OMS-side Plug-In
patches, Agent patches and Agent-Side Plug-In patches
One-off Patches
One-off patches are bug fixes provided as required for a single bug fix or a collection of bug fixes.
They may also be created for customer specific security bug fixes. A one off patch could also be a
diagnostic patch that is created to help diagnose or verify a fix or collection of bug fixes. The
recommendation is to apply the bundle patch (described below) and not apply one off patches
unless recommended by Oracle Support.
To understand where theses patches have to be applied, the following image resumes the Oracle
Enterprise Manager 13c architecture:
Both, OMS (Oracle Management Service) and OMAs (Oracle Management Agents) are compounded
by its own Framework (core installation) and different plug-ins which can be added or removed as
desired (except some default plug-ins). Each module must be patched separately as describe the
following table:
Note: Other OEM Components such as the Database Repository or Weblogic Server can be patched
following the Oracle recommendations. The explanation of these patching strategies is out of the
scope of this document. To obtain more information contact to your Oracle ACS TAM requesting
information about additional services focused on those modules.

Extended Support (ES): Provides an extra three years of support for specific Oracle releases for an
additional fee. Customer benefit from the same quality of service received with Premier Support.
Sustaining Support (SS): With Sustaining Support, customers receive technical support including
access to online support tools, knowledge bases, pre-existing fixes and assistance from technical
support experts indefinitely. However, patches will not be created after extended support has elapsed.

8. Latest Available Releases for Enterprise Manager Plug-ins
In Enterprise Manager 13c, the idea of managing targets is accomplished by downloading plug-in code and
storing it in the software library and then deploying the plug-in code to the OMS and the Agent. Without
deploying the plug-in code to the OMS and Agent, Enterprise Manager Cloud Control will not be able to
discover, monitor or manage the targets that are associated to the plug-in. This new target architecture
allows Oracle to easily update the management features when a new version of the target is released as well
as deliver timely bug fixes.
The following table provides the list of latest available Plug-ins for Enterprise Manager 13c ordered by name:

Plugin Latest Version
Oracle Plugins not listed in this document are developed by product (target) specific teams and therefore fall
under the Error Correction Support Policies Guidelines of those products. Non-Oracle Plug-ins not listed in
this document are created by Oracle Partners and support for those plug-ins is determined by the Oracle
Partner who developed the plug-in. Please see the Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange for additional
information.
You can find more information about the list of plug-in released for OEM 13c in https://support.oracle.com
> Certifications > Enterprise Manager Base Platform > Management and Development Tools, or through

9. Patch Set Updated (PSU) / Release Update (RU)
Patch Set Updates (PSUs) are proactive cumulative patches containing recommended bug fixes that
are released on a regular and predictable schedule. PSUs are on quarterly schedule, specifically the
Tuesday closest to the 17th of January, April, July, and October.
However, beginning on OEM 13.4, the new strategy is to apply the Release Updates patches, which
are monthly delivered and introduce new EM features and bug fixes. This provides a quick solution
to benefit of new advantages without waiting for a major release.
The following tables show information about latest PSU/RU for the Oracle Management Server
