ELECTRIC CHARGE (HW)

1. A glass rod, when rubbed with silk cloth acquires a charge of 1.6x 10 -13C. What is the charge on
silk cloth? Is there a transfer of mass? If there is transfer, from which to which?
2. How many electrons should be removed from a conductor, so that it acquires a charge of 3.5nC
3. If 10 14 electrons are removed from a body, what is the charge acquired by the body?
4. Two identical metallic spheres of exactly equal masses are taken. One is given a +ve charge Q
and the other , equal –ve charge by friction. Are their masses after charging be equal?
5. Two insulated charged spheres A and B of identical size having charges Q A and -3Q A
respectively. When they are brought in contact with each other and then separated , what are
the new charges on them?
6. Two insulated charged copper spheres A and B of identical size have charges Q A and Q B
respectively. A 3rd sphere of same size C, but uncharged is brought in contact with the first and
then in contact with the second and finally removed from both. What are the new charges of A
and B?
7. Estimate , the number of electrons in 1g of water and the negative charge possessed by them?
