I. Objectives

At the end of an hour discussion, the students are able to:

A. distinguish between general and specific statements;


B. share thoughts using general and specific statements through dyadic activity; and
C. construct sentences using general and specific statement through writing a paragraph.

“GENERAL STATEMENT is a main idea
that is supported by specific statements or
details. The main idea can be identified by
asking “What key points does the author
want me to know about the topic?” or
“What is this topic all about? .”

small ideas that reinforce the main or
general statement. Supporting details such
as facts, examples, reasons, statistics that
elaborate the main idea. It answers the
who, what, where, when, and why about
the topic.
