WHY HISTORY

1. On a blank A4 page, in landscape format, construct a timeline of your


life, from the moment you were born until today.
a. Above the timeline give key words describing the most
important events in your life.
b. Below the timeline give the date of the event (either exact or
just the month or year).
c. Give your timeline a creative heading and add some colour and
pictures.
d. Be prepared to submit this to the teacher. Also be prepared to
talk about it.
2. Do a little online research. Write these questions in your history book
and answer them (write and underline the date and heading):
a. What is meant by primary sources of history?
b. Give some examples.
c. What is meant by secondary sources of history?
d. Give some examples.
e. Why is it important to analyze as many primary sources of
history as possible?
f. Look at your timeline. List some primary sources that support
the events you have mentioned.

3. Write down this statement below, large and bold, drawer a border

so that we can better understand the present,
and better plan for the future…
having learnt for the past successes and failures”.
