1. Thoreau at the beginning uses the motto “ That government is best which
governs least” which means that government that governs less are the best.

2. “That government is best which governs not at all” he states that the best
kind of government is the one which doesn’t govern, everyone from the
citizens could govern himself

3. Let every man make known what kind of government would command
His respect, and that will be one step toward obtaining it. He wants every
man to choose the kind of the government he wants and he’ll respect.

4. Thoreau begins his discussion with saying that the best government is that
the which governs least because most of the governments control people.
On the other hand some people might say that when the government governs
least people could start wars and stealing and many other problems could
happen when no one is controlling.
