SYSTEM

WHEN YOU COMPLETE THIS LESSON, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

1. LIST TWO MAJOR ENGINE PARTS THAT ARE COOLED BY THE TVBC SYSTEM.

2. LIST THE TWO INPUTS USED BY THE EEC TO SCHEDULE THE TVBC SYSTEM.

3. LOCATE THE TWO TVBC AIR SHUTOFF VALVE SOLENOIDS.

4. STATE THE PURPOSE OF THE COOLING AIR THAT CONTINUOUSLY FLOWS THROUGH TWO

Engine Left Side - Components (FIN):

• TVBC air shutoff valve (5007ED1)


– Installed on the HPC rear case at the 9:30 position
• TVBC air shutoff valve / anti–ice valve solenoid (4507KS)
– Installed at the rear of the intermediate case at the
10:30 position
• Turbine vane cooling (TVC) air ducts
– Found between the TVBC air shutoff valve on the
HPC rear case and the HPT case
• Turbine blade cooling air tube
– Found between the TVBC air shutoff valve and the
diffuser case
• Ps3 (middle) filter (5006ED5)
– Found on the HPC rear case at the 11:30 position
• EEC (4000KS)
– Found on the lower left fan case

HPC BLEED AIR (Ps3) FILTERS


Purpose: • Ps3 filters on the left side of the engine are used to filter

Purpose:
