TEXTOF TABLE VALUES
USE
General
The load-carrying capacity values in the table were determined in accordance with ETA-11/0190 and EN 1995-1-1 for timber-to-timber and steel-to-timber
connections with Würth ASSY® 4 screws without predrilling for timber members with a characteristic density of ρk = 350 kg/m³.
For the load-carrying capacity, characteristic values and design values for kmod = 0,8 und γM = 1,3 are specified.

Timber-to-timber / steel-to-timber connections

The specified load-carrying capacity values correspond to the maximum load-carrying capacity that can be achieved with a screw of a particular diame-
ter.1 The associated minimum screw length required is specified for each load-carrying capacity. The specified load-carrying capacity is achieved with
this screw length or a longer one. For smaller component thicknesses than those specified in the tables, the load-carrying capacity of a connection can be
determined by an individual load-carrying capacity calculation.

Rated value of the load-carrying capacity

For modification factors kmod ≠ 0,8 the design value of the load-carrying capacity can be calculated from the specified characteristic
load-carrying capacity:

k mod
F i,Rd  =  F i,Rk ∙  _
γ M  mit γ M= 1,3

On the safe side, the tabulated design values of the load-carrying capacity can be used for all kmod ≥ 0,8.

Verification of the load-carrying capacity under combined loads

Verification of the load-carrying capacity under combined loads is done in accordance with DIN EN 1995-1-1 (8.28):

(_  )
    +  (_
 F    )
2 2
F ax,Ed F v,Ed
 F        ≤  1
ax,Rd v,Rd

Connections with several screws

For connections with several screws, the effective number nef of the screws must be determined.

Axially loaded screws (ETA-11/0190, A.2.3.2)

nef = n0,9 general case

nef = max{n0,9; 0,9 · n} for a row of inclined screws with 30° ≤ α ≤ 60° with tensile shear connections

Laterally loaded screws (EN 1995-1-1, 8.3.1.1 (8)):

nef = n if the screws are arranged in a row parallel to the grain direction, each offset by 1 · d
perpendicular to the grain direction

nef = nkef if the screws in a row parallel to the grain direction are not offset or if the spacing between
the screws in a tear line is less than 14 · d.

a1 4·d 7·d 10 · d ≥ 14 · d Linear interpolation may be used for intermediate

kef -- 0,7 0,85 1,0 values of a1.

1 In the case of screw connections parallel to the fibre the screw length taken into account when determining the values in the table was in
some cases sensibly limited.

APPLICATION EXAMPLE STEEL-TO-TIMBER CONNECTION
The arrangement of the screws is selected in a way that avoids reducing the effective number of screws. For this purpose, screws lying one behind each
other in the direction of the grain, are arranged with an offset of one times the screw diameter d = 10 mm at right angles to the grain direction.

Required number of screws per steel sheet for nef = n:

n erf  =  0,5 ∙  F Ed / F v,Rd  =  0,5 ∙  215 / 4,57  =  24

APPLICATION EXAMPLE JOIST HEADER CONNECTION
System Joist header Connection
Main beam b/h = 160 mm / 200 mm, NH C24
Auxiliary beam b/h = 100 mm / 160 mm, NH C24
Calculation basis DIN EN 1995-1-1:2010-12 and national German application document
DIN EN 1995-1-1/NA:2010-12; ETA 11/0190
Load effect FEd = 6,9 kN
service class 1 and load-duration class medium-term
Requirement The header must be supported in a torsion-resistant way. Additional torques from the eccentricity of the connection must be taken
into account for the component verification. Screws must be screwed in flush with the surface. The main and auxiliary beam top edges
