recorded in chronological order to the final recording medium in the Protective Capsule
Unit via the Recording Control Unit. However, the information on the initial settings of the
system configuration is recorded before the equipment is shipped from a JRC factory or at
the time of its installation on the ship.
The Recording Control Unit records such signals with time-stamps at an interval of 0.01
seconds.
When and how such signals are recorded onto the Protective Capsule Unit varies with
their types.
2) Bridge conversations:
The signals of the conversations in the bridge are pooled, and then recorded at an
interval of 1 minute in the form of a data stream (not as a file) onto the Protective
Capsule Unit.
3) VHF communications:
The signals of the radio communications are pooled, and then recorded at an
interval of 1 minute in the form of a data stream (not as a file) onto the Protective
Capsule Unit.
4) RADAR images:
The signals of the RADAR images are pooled, and recorded at an interval of 15
seconds in the form of a data stream (not as a file) onto the Protective Capsule Unit.
Any data stream is recorded to the final recording medium in the Protective Capsule
Unit. For each type of data, the memory area is assigned in the final recording medium
and can store up to 12 hours’ recording in the specific format depicted below.
Up to 315 kB in audio data size per minute for each channel (a channel consists
of 3 microphones). The maximum number of channels is 3 (i.e., 3 channels
accounts for 9 microphones).
Up to 180 kB in a single audio data size per minute for each channel (a channel
consists of 3 VHF radiotelephones).
Data are recorded continuously, and when they are overlimited, the old ones are
deleted.
The Protective Capsule contains a solid state Flash Memory array, which stores data.
The Protective Capsule Unit receives data from the Recording Control Unit via a
TCP/IP-based network. The received data are then recorded to their corresponding
memory areas assigned to the final recording medium in the Protective Capsule Unit.
The memory areas are assigned for the following data categories.
