1. Share ideas/insights on "What is meant by inequality?"

For me, inequality is the state of not being fair. It is a state where there are two or more

parties which are compared in one matter and there is a big difference for them. Inequality have a

wide range of meaning in different kinds of topics. It can be global, in economics, social and so

on. When we are saying inequality it is not being equal especially in status, rights and

opportunities. Inequality can be seen in various ways, ranging from a denial of individual

opportunity to a more structural understanding of inequality of social condition. But the notion

that ‘brute-luck’ disadvantage is wrong and that there should be equality of life chances for all

can command widespread support.

2. Write a 1-2 paragraph essay of your interpretation and understanding of Global Divide.

The global digital divide describes global disparities, primarily between developed and

developing countries, in regards to access to computing and information resources such as the

Internet and the opportunities derived from such access. As with a smaller unit of analysis, this

gap describes an inequality that exists, referencing a global scale. The “double divide” is caused

by political power, economic dependency, and importation/exportation of resources. The

transition of industrial production to cheaper labor sources, international media, and expanding

international trade and communication have in some ways made the world smaller, yet in other

ways made the gaps between nations larger by creating greater dependency of poor nations to

wealthy nations. The North-South problem is a general term signifying various problems relating

to the economic and social development of the developing countries, particularly the problems of
trade and aid. Which results to creating a line between north and south. The north became richer

while the south became undeveloped and getting poor. This was the results of the issue between

them that creates a big difference between them.
