WHEREAS, WHEREAS, PROCLAMATION Hampton Roads Pride serves and represents all seven cities in our region; and” annually, June is designated as Pride Month, and communities throughout the United States come together to commemorate the New York City Stonewall uprisings of 1969, a major catalyst of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) rights movement; and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) citizens have contributed to the rch diversity of our City and have made significant strides ina varity of contribu iif and members of the LGBTQ communities make their voices fieard, continue to fight for equality and legislation that profibits discrimination in fousing, employment and reproductive health services on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity; and during LGBTQ Pride Month, the City of Newport News joins the nation in celebrating LGBIQ Americans ther struggle, and their contributions to our communities, NOW, THEREFORE, I, Phillip D.
